Why are there so few straight romances?

Hahaha as gay person I feel like there is straight representations everywhere LOL and never enough LGBT characters for me to relate to XD But maybe you are right in that on tapastic that is different. ^^; Never thought of it. I feel like a good recommendation is the comic Oh my Ghost. Despite me personally being more interested in GL I really love the romance in Oh MY Ghost It is so cute and I ship it so much! Its a slow burn romance and very well done

its not wrong to like straight stuff, its just...... you have so much of it. so so much. webcomics are created independently, giving people a lot more free reign on what they can say and do in them, and while networks and publishers and maybe even viewers of mainstream media want straight stories, very few webcomic producers and fans do. most of us are lgbt (or straight girls with a fetish for BL, but i try to ignore them) so why wouldnt we tell stories that reflect us?

that being said, there are successful, high quality webcomics following heterosexual romance. plenty of them. maybe youre just so unused to lgbt content, youre exaggerating how much there is?

ive seen about one gl comic on front page, and maybe a few more stories that centre wlw. but its definitely not to the same ratio as BL, and theres lots of kinda nasty reasons for that.

for the same reasons, i dont think BL will die out - fetishising mlm and ignoring female characters has been a fandom staple for generations, even if people stop liking yaoi as they mature, theyll always prefer yaoi-type stories, and therell always be newer, younger fans and creators creating the next My Trash Boyfriend

Mysby there aren´t more gay webcomics then straight comics but the gay ones get more popular (and therefore more visible) because there is such a huge need for them. Since all movies, books and mainstream comics lacks gay representation.

What I'm curious about is what the demographics look like on Tapastic. If we are to believe OP, that would imply that there's a vastly disproportionate amount of gay male readers (or, I dunno, maybe women are into that stuff too) on this site, and I can't help but wonder why.

Or maybe it's just that the readership is split on other series, while all the gay guys are upvoting all the gay comics. What do I know.

Many webcomic readers and authors are young and straight (BL is definitely for straight girls), and they create stuff for straight people, so I have no idea where this complain comes from. Lesbian comics here on Tapastic are as rare as white flies. I only know of another two, other than my own - I'm talking about comics with actual lesbian characters, and not women who pretend to be lesbians or are fetishised according to straight people's tastes. Simply put, get outta here, you're complaining over a huge nothing.

@infectedbloodcomics YES! I wish GL was as big. I would love more lesbian comics and character that (like you say) are not fetishised). My protagonist in my comic is a lesbian but my comic is more focused on adventure and comedy then romance. As a lesbian myself I really wish for more comics about queer women. I would love to read your comic!

im not being extreme at all, extreme would be me getting very upset and angry with you. lots of people say hurtful and prejudiced things without meaning to or realising, for example i could say someone has a very big nose and not realise theyve been bullied about it, which would upset them. the kind and mature thing to do is listen when someone tells you youve said something hurtful.

for a long time, straight people have been considered 'normal' to gay people's 'abnorbal' 'weird' and 'wrong' - this idea has been used to oppress us, and is homophobic. its okay that you didnt realise this, but im telling you now that what you said was homophobic.

I 'm planing to put romance in my webcomic but i think the ''straight stuff'' you want is a romance story only abiut a girl who fell in love with a boy and backwards, well , this theme has been used for ages and it's very hard to create an original , that's what i think , it's like the love songs , it feels like anything that could be said is said and we just change position the words in the same sentences.
