Why can't you chase your dreams while having a regular job?

I work a FT office gig now, and I'm trying to get my comics "career" off the ground with whatever free time I have. The only part that sucks, is often my job & real life issues get in the way of me trying to produce work on a consistent basis; the result being that the work I do churn out is on an inconsistent basis. In my "well-balanced" fantasy, I could work AND utilize my free time to do comic work- not so compromising in reality.

Most of my friends who have creative ambitions also have day jobs. Some are more successful than others. It seems like the ones who are the most successful are surrounded by people who actively support their dreams.

Lol just a little update on my status about the topic, I found a job, how much you think I draw now? Yea if I'm lucky I will make those two pages a week. It's really challenging to come home exhausted af and then start drawing. Artists with families have even harder, I'm still living with my parents so it's that easier. So yea I finally experience this real life, preparing myself for depression x'D
