examining your life =/= existential crisis. i think weve just got different opinions on what qualifies as a genuine existential crisis
the socratic method has its merits, but i still feel like its an ill fit for this forum, shown by the fact nobody does it. people here expect two-way conversations, and you can incorporate the socratic method into this, but i dont think you can just ask questions (unless maybe you establish first that youre following the socratic method so ppl dont get confused, bc like, yknow, people dont think of that / even know what it is)
a better format of replying would be like
"sure, people just want to do things, but i think its interesting to try and get under the skin of that. maybe if we get down to the bones of why we enjoy stories, we can apply that understanding to our own stories? that said, 'why not' is a valid answer (seemed valid enough for oscar wilde). but stories are a lot of effort to create, and a lot of time (and effort, in some mediums) to engage with, so what do people want to get out of that? enjoyment, obviously, but what about stories is actually enjoyable?"
so theres follow-on questions, but youve also responded to what @69Erocento has said, making the discussion feel 2-way (which it should be)
