While there's a bunch in here mentioning Christian Metal, I'm gonna give these guys a shoutout. They don't call themselves Christian band, but they do have Christians in there. And their vocalist Garrett Russell... hoooo, boy, he's a writer and somewhat of a theologist. Leaves footnotes in his lyrics as well so listeners can take a peek at what influenced his words.
Tiny Hands (Au Revoir) is about a woman, Marguerite Rouffanche, and a church massacre committed by Nazis in a small French village on July 10th, 1944. The music video is somewhat of a retelling of that with the exception of the ending where the Rouffranche escapes. The EP where this song came from, lastsleep (1944-1946), focuses on female survivors of gruesome events during World War II. My favorite lyrics, "Je suis sorti vivant du four crématoire. Je suis le témoin sacré de l'église. Je suis une mère qui a tout perdu.. (Translated: I came out alive from the crematorium. I am a sacred witness from the church. I am a mother who lost everything..) This fire burns your name on my lips; This smoke chokes your song on my throat. Now let death lynch my lungs. I offer what's left of this withering tongue."
Orphan is essentially about the divide between America and Syria and the religious extremists who believe what their doing is right and losing themselves along the way, and it explores a fictional story about two brothers who became enemies to the point of not recognizing each other. The album it came from, Everything Was Sound focuses heavily on mental illnesses. My favorite lyrics, "If love's a sin, I'll become a heretic" and "I’ll collapse, head parting from my weary shoulders. Seeds of life spilling from my palms. Subverting love will take hold in this hateful soil. My blood is the water, Inshallah, Shalom. (Translated from Arabic and Hebrew: If Allah wills it, let there be peace. Shalom also means hello or goodbye, but given the context of the song, "peace" is the actual definition of the word used.) Love will take hold."
Share The Body is about the opioid epidemic in America, and how the addiction of a character to it experiences a separation between himself and his body while under the influence. Their newest album where the song came from, When The End Began (⠱⠢ ⠮ ⠢⠙ ⠆⠛⠁⠝), focuses a lot on of the issues of the modern world as well as spiritual revelations and the theory of eternal return. My favorite lyrics, "Do I dare shake the need from our skin? Do I dare rattle the rust, corroding me from within? The lechery, the treachery, oh come, Love, sit next to me. This anatomy is built like tragedy. Don't you know me by these scars? These marks where I are? I mean I am, I mean I was, I was supposed to be someone.." and "I hit the bottom and it hit me back."
Edit: Added info about the songs and albums, because I felt like it'd be more interesting info to have before listening to their music~
