Out of curiousity, what is the name you have planned that's bothering you?
Honestly I have a character named Gray and ho boy, there are so many webcomic characters with that name it isn't even funny. But like you said, it suits the character and I've gotten attached to it. It's also a reference to one of my favorite science fiction senarios as well as a nod to when the character was once written as the main antagonist.
The thing is, if you try to be 100% unique every time, you alienate the reader. We like to absorb familiar media. It's comforting. That's why you almost always see aliens or fantasy races depicted like humans with minor alterations, because we empathize better with things that behave like ourselves.
That is to say you shouldn't directly copy another's work but... influence is inevitable. That's just how the mind learns and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
Now back to names. I've got a character with a common name, but that's not a bad thing. A character with a super unique name let's say "Laxugaza," might be difficult to remember when compared to a common named character named, "Steve." So each come with their strengths and weaknesses.
The only names I'd say would be somewhat bad to name your character would be names that have been so deeply ingrained in media that you can't build on them without heavy stigma. Like I dunno if you named your character "Naruto" or "Harry Potter" or "Pikachu." I mean you're going to make your reader fairly confused for sure. XD I would avoid those.
