Would you recommend redrawing a first chapter?

I redone my entire prologue, my come dates back to 2014 and my art has improved much since. I would only recommend if the difference is big enough

Thanks for your reply. I guess I should really wait more time to redraw it. I'm too much of a perfectionist I think that I can't help wanting to redraw everything I've done one year ago.

Admittedly, I did have to retrace some chapter two pages because I couldn't find the original Inkscape files.

Ah! I see... well, that's definitely a good reason to redraw early chapters

I just finished retouching my Proluge for my comic The Changeling's Sister, and yes, I find there is absolutely merit to going back and make the start better.

Now a couple of things to consider: How long is your first chapter? In my case I have a prologus of only five pages, so its wasnt that huge of a load to take on.

Secondly: Do you have to fully redraw everything from scratch? I see a lot of redrawing, but I wonder if going back and make it all from scratch is worth it? Retouching my prologue I kept the line art I had already made, but adding more difference in line weight, texture etc, and redoing the colouring. Just those touches did loads for the old pages.

Wow! Definitely I can see a difference between the first one and the new one. Well, my first chapter is like 4 pages long, not so long... the main problems are some general drawings and backgrounds, but mostly the panels and lettering. I know if I redrew it, it would look so much better. I wasn't that skilled with digital art when I made it so of course now, a year after practicing digital art almost every week, I can clearly see problems with it.

Hi there! I would honestly say don't redraw it. I did the same thing before I released mine, went through my comic digitally, it took a year to get the first ten chapters done amongst my day job,then I looked back and thought the same as you. So I spent another year redrawing it. Then do you wanna know what happened when I looked back agiain? I wanted to redraw it...
We are artists, so beware that your mind will always see how it could improve, the key is to improve as you keep moving! Don't get stuck trying to get the same ground perfect, tread new ground and let your art naturally evolve over time, so that you will always keep going.
Plus, its then like a lovely visual diary of your skills improving throughout the years. I ran my comic weekly here for 5 years, and honestly, your truest fans will see its potential and be happy to watch it grow. I really wish you good luck, it looks great already!

One simple phrase: If you redraw what you did because you improve your art, you will end in an infinite loop of redrawing each chapter everytime that you art changes

@endlessuprising Hi! Well, yeah, it seems like a bad idea, actually. Because yeah, you are right, it's a never ending loop. I was just worried readers could dislike the fact that the style and my skills were changing so much, but I guess that's not much of a problem Also thanks! I'm happy you like it! Thank you so much!
