Would you want people that know you irl to find your comic online?

Yeah, honestly most of my friends and relatives are aware of my comic or even read it.

The only thing I get embarrassed about is the shit art.

Honestly, I get everyone and anyone to read it, friends and familiy too.
I also tell them to spread the word if they meet someone who could be interested. I have also handed out stickers to all in my pnp group (Which is kinda awkward but also kinda cool when five of those stickers sit on their laptops and stare at me every session xD).

Luckily I have very nerdy friends and family, so it works for me, but I realize that is note the case for everyone

But! If you want to get the word of your webcomic out there, utilize the rescources you have avaliable :3

I use my real name on my works so with an simple google search I imagine my stories are easy to find. I don't really care. I won't show it to them in their face, but I'm not hiding anything either.

I don't even want to promote my stuff outside comic groups. I feel like fainting when I think of showing it to my family or friends. I don't know why, they are extremely supportive and they are used to my art stuff...but not the comic, this one feels personal.

Lol I think a good percentage of my school knows about my comic because I talk about it nonstop, but NOBODY has even heard of Tapas so only 4 or 5 people are actually subbed/ caught up.

I'd rather my mom not read my comic, though, since there's quite a bit of swearing and maybe wlw stuff.

My comic is my private thing, I do it above all for myself.
2 persons close to me know about it and it's already stressful enough even if they are supportive

Part of me doesn't, simply because I'm not used to it. For years and years, I've never even had to say the names of these characters out loud; the idea of mentioning them in IRL conversation feels like having to bring them into another dimension...

But then...part of me does, because it's the easiest way for people to get to know a side of me that they don't often get to see. The goofy side, the crowd-pleasing side, the ambitious side. Most people who know me in real life (and I use the word 'know' very loosely) probably aren't even aware that I have those emotions.

Of course, my username is nothing like my real name, so if someone who knew me stumbled upon my comic, they probably wouldn't know it was mine unless they saw me drawing one day and recognized a character. But if they stumbled across my comic in the first place, chances are (a) they really like comics, or (b) I'm getting famous, both of which are situations I would be happy to deal with. ^^

I think, that most if not all of my acquaintances know that I am doing a comics. Only a small part of them actually read it though. Sadly...

As for family... Not really? My comic has some topics where I don't know how comfortable my family is with them and I'd rather avoid weird questions from relatives. XD I only told my dad that I have a comic but he wasn't that much interested since it's in a language he doesn't understand very much.

No. I'm not statisfied with what I'm doing right now with comics to show them irl.
If I progress sufficiently then maybe I'll share some next works.

(edit: I don't really care about what they would think about topics treated on my works, most of my family are avid readers who read about everything on every kind of medium )

When I was younger I worried about that. I don't do NSFW content, but sharing my art and stories with people I actually know seemed really vulnerable and frightening.

Now people are like, "How are you?" and I'm all, "Good! I'm working on a comic, want to see what I have so far?"

So yeah, I'm pretty much delighted when people I know want to check out my work. Sometimes they like it and sometimes they're not that into it, but I'm fine with that.

I think that's normal, don't feel bad about that! Even many of my best friends don't read my comic because it's not to their tastes, and that's okay! As long as they're still supportive of you, that's what matters.

My family knows but does not read it. It's mostly because I told them it would be better to wait until there is more to read.

My spouse is supposed to read it and correct the English but time is often short.

Some of my friends from my country of birth know, but technically they are not so much IRL friends anymore.

IRL I told no one because I still have difficulties to understand what is socially okay or not, still very much struggling with cultural differences. I don't want to add unnecessary issues, although it's a bit a shame because there are some people I would like to show my comic to. Maybe later.

People I know know that I do it, but they don't read it. I try and discourage it if I have to but usually people don't bother trying to read it. The only one who ever pressed the issue any further was my boyfriend.
It's just a weird, vulnerable thing for me. I always liken it to a part at the beginning of 'The Portrait of Dorian Gray' where Basil says he put too much of himself in his painting.

My friends know about it but don't see what I post. Which is a relief. All they know is "Oh yeah, he draws a gory comic about muscular men beating the shit out of each other" but I like to experiment with different kinds of character designs. Making a male character have a flamboyant design but extremely manly, like Abbacchio from JoJo or Ouki from Kingdom, and all they would do is look at the surface level of the character designs and what not. It'd be rather annoying.

I thought it will be a big surprise for many people around me, but no. Most of people just don't care. :DDD
Sometimes my mom, grandma and great-grandma re-share my stuff. (yeah, I have great-grandma, and she is on the web) I'm really grateful they participate in it. :>

I'm pretty open about my comic: i share all of my update posts and whatnot to my personal Facebook, so most of my irl friends/family have the potential to know that I draw a comic, if they pay attention every Sunday. Not many actually read though. 2 of my closest friends irl subbed to my comic (and infrequently read), and I don't know of anyone beyond them xD (edit: I have quite a few more friends who follow my art social media pages and like my artwork that way, as opposed to sitting down and actually reading my comic, that is)

Friends would usually know, but I tried not bringing it up at work for a looong time.

... That is, until one day, I was traveling for work with 3 colleagues, all my senior, some of them my managers and one of them says: "Oh, You're working on a comic, aren't you! Tell us all about it!"

I wish I could have disappeared, but unfortunately it was a 3 hour car ride and I had nowhere to go XD I still have no idea who originally spilled the beans.
