Seconding this! The dumb thing about the word "writing" is that it can mean both literally writing (or typing) words on a page, or the more abstract idea of developing a story. Pacing, characterization, setting, etc-- in my mind, those are all "writing", and inform the artwork. Artwork without writing is more close to illustration. Writing is inherent in a comic. That's how I see it, at least. The literal form of writing, the actual visible words on the page, are just a fraction of the total writing that goes into a comic.
As for deciding which is more important, I think it's a silly pissing contest to begin with. They both have importance, and imo the best comics are the ones that unify writing and artwork in a complementary manner.
