Your favorite mix of genres?

I think my favorite right now is: action, psychological horror, drama, shoujo

Examples of this compilation of genres: Mardock Scramble, Immortal Rain, Issho ni neyou yo - all manga unfortunately(?) bc of the 'shoujo' genre

Hmm... maybe Historical (anywhere from 5000BC-1970AD tbh) + Psychological + Drama (+ religious or philosophical themes sometimes)? Historical + Batshit Crazy is good too!

Some examples: The Tunnel (by Ernesto Sabato), Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shijuu (anime/manga), various non-fiction about historic and deadly attempts to climb big-ass mountains, One River (by Wade Davis), The Sea of Fertility (tetralogy by Yukio Mishima), Lolita (the book, haven't seen the film yet), The Brothers Karamazov , Peplum (comic by Blutch), Satyricon (film by Frederico Fellini), Taiko (book by Eiji Yoshikawa)

Some of these works don't fit completely into this mix, but I like them purely because of the elements that fit so I included them anyways lol

I also really enjoy Historical Horror in my games, not sure if that counts as one genre or a mix of two.

right now: Action,Adventure, fantasy, medieval, scifi (any combination of these and I'm happy)

examples: I hate fairyland(Image comic), Feng Shen Ji(Manhua), Jin(manga drama), Bone(comic), Dr.Stone(Manga), Black Healer(Manga), Dragon Rider(book), Narnia(book), Saga(Image Comic), Animal Land(Manga), Castlevania(Anime Fight me), Ushio and Tora(Manga), Goblin slayer (Manga),King Arthur: Legend of the Sword(Movie),Captain america 1 (Movie), etc.

I love these since they are either fun, funny or action packed, some are dumb others are smart but all of them are things I enjoyed =P

I also wanna say that all the genres are separated by psycho-emotional thing, but fantasy and sci-fi usually mean the "place in space" and the "magic characters". It’s not true, because my favorite genre sci-fi and space opera isn’t the one thing. Science fiction is dramatically, psychological and more serious. And space opera is kinda action/adventure (maybe with magical characters) in the cosmos and undiscovered different planets. So I have to tell you my comic is sci-fi+drama to let people know it’s more serious than opera, and I also have a part of this story being on the one world, no elves, no trolls, but there are dragons in this world and some local magical setting. How can I explain my comic in two words without this description?

Slice of life mixed with literally anything. Especially slice of life + horror or mystery

Scifi + Horror is one that I just adore. Honestly, I like any genre better if it has a splash of horror. (Although, I am rather particular about what kind of horror I consider palatable.)

All joking aside, I personally am a sucker for romance and slice of life. I just can't get enough of a well written romance~

I'm a sap who loves rom-coms (mostly in movies) but only if the characters are older than teenagers. If they're teens then it's usually focused on the romance in an effort to appeal to the teenage viewership (and ends up falling in the chick-flick category, which I tend to find boring).

I think Mystery/Detective or Sci-Fi + almost anything
I mean, these two elements are present in almost all of my favorite media, videogames, movies, comics, whatever!
The only thing i don't quite like is (and some people are gonna hate me for this) romance. I think the only romance-centric story i've ever liked is Wall-e, and that one was also sci-fi!

I also like when the story in itself allows a reflection on society, and have a MC that grows through it. Tokyo Ghost, Punk Rock Jesus, FMA and Evangelion are quite good example of the kind of stories that would attract me

Like @GalacticPotato I'm not a big fan of Romance as a genre in itself. I'm happy to have romance element in a story (that makes it realistic anyway!), but I don't like when the romance defines the story. I prefer when it remains a subplot, and have a story based on something greater than the chemistry between two (or a few ) individuals.

Hmm... This is a tough one, since I'm into mixing genres a lot. My two big ones are fantasy and sci-fi, and I find combinations of those two to be very enjoyable. Another two big mentions are adventure and drama, 'cause of course. XD My work also mixes these, simply because I like it.

RIght now most of what i’ve been making is like horror + weird stuff, but I also really like making weird stuff + sci fi, or weird stuff + slice of life.

As for the stuff I enjoy reading/watching, basically dramas where everyone yells at eachother + weird stuff. I recently watched Angels in America and Death of a Salesman, and both of this really surprised me with how surreal they were, I highly reccomend uwu
