I think the ones that use the forums here are mostly full-time workers/college students who come home after a long day to work on their comic as a hobby and engage in meaningful conversations. But the overall age average of consumer accounts (ones that aren't creators, just readers) on Tapas may be …

Yeah, I think support for support relationships are great. I've read so many stories to where hardly anything will really peak my interests. These days if I'm more invested in the author... it'll get me more invested in their story to where I otherwise wouldn't be as much. Especially if they support…

They shouldn't ban you it's allowed. That being said, I personally don't find it appealing to use 3D software in comics... it's just off-putting for me. It's not nice for them to call you lazy though but at the same time don't people use those software with the partial-intention to take shortcuts? H…

At the end of the day, the feature exists and people use it. Some people are just simply more invasive than others. I was only giving an example if I were "that person" who just pms random ppl (which I'm not) I would at least taken the steps I mentioned above and find some connection at least. Make …

There's a difference between gaining subs vs gaining readers which I think the latter is much more important. I rather have 10 subs who are invested/interested in my series than 1k ghost subs from subbing to stories I'm never going to read myself. If I were to go and private message people to checko…

Simple, tell them you don't like subs with strings attached/conditions because it's not genuine interest. I'd be fine with people asking to look/review their comic if I at least knew them for a bit. There has to be some kind of relation prior so it doesn't feel out of the blue. I just sub comics i…

That was me for the longest time but I just did it with pencil and added contrast after scanning to make it somewhat look like it was done with pen, haha. I couldn't work with pen, I don't have a stable hand and my hand strokes are short so sketching feels a lot more comfortable to me. Actually, one…

I wish I can do 1-2 hour pages lol. I probably could with how I used to make comics which was sketched and shaded with pencil and that was it. However, I took the color/webcomic format route cause I felt I was eventually going to gravitate towards it and it seems to be a lot more popular... at least…

Interesting, the script is usually the easiest part for me... can do it like 10x faster than making the art. But I guess one's art-style will affect the time and if your story is text driven or art driven. However, I found since the art takes so long that it gives me time to edit existing text to …

This is my first topic and I may do more of these depending on how they go: Sometimes I feel like I'm the slowest webcomic artist ever. :joy: I can make a panel look decent but it's not without adjusting it a bunch of times. I can sketch things way faster but I try to make my comic appeal more to the "…

My drawings don't have a lot of line art... but I think colorful simpleness has its appeal. [image]

Edited: Went ahead to add the Webtoon link also. Also got around to reading it which I didn't have time earlier. Very nice art-style! The panels are really cleanly spaced and it's overall easy on the eyes. Subbed and gave you a rating boost!

Well, Tapas vs Webtoons have different preferences from what I noticed. Mature art-style/themed comics seem to do better here while colorful/anime type series with decent length per episode appeals more to Webtoon. I also feel a good sum of readers on Webtoon only click if Romance is one of the genr…

Last panel I worked on for an upcoming episode. I'll let you guess the context... [image]

Drawing with a mouse... can't have variations in line thickness so it'll never look natural. I still do the sketches with pencil and paper and scan it. However I can't get into using a web-tablet even though I have one. Just don't like how it feels. Feelsbadman.

I try to work in a slightly higher standard than my own abilities. Even though it takes forever.. I learn more that way. And I think it also keeps me from wanting to redo the story from the beginning again cause art can drastically improve overtime to where you eventually cringe at your first episod…

Always shy to self-promote but it'd be great to have more than 5 subs. (myself included) :joy: I don't update often but I make sure each episode is decent length and polished as possible.

Underdog climbing their way up Dealing with depression/lost friend General life lessons told in a story Hidden family secrets Friendship (not in a cheesy way) Rivalry/War between factions Heroism Deep psychological perspectives Relationship building Parody and meme references...

Last frame panels of an upcoming episode I'm working on. It cuts off mid sentence cause the next panel is a text spoiler. [image] I ended up using the bottom panel to update my banner.

A story that makes a lot of random references. :sunglasses:

The second one is pretty interesting. You clearly worked hard on both. If you end up focusing on that, you probably want to divide a chapter into smaller portions so people can see the updates more often (Maybe 5-6 page updates?). Pick whichever puts you at mental ease. Really digging the story in T…

From what I seen, both sites have different preferences when it comes to the story they want to read. Short gag comics that update frequently tend to do well here. While on Webtoons, they prefer longer updates in a scrolling format. If you have nice colors, that's a plus. Also fresh comics on Tapas …

I'm surprised how much music can immerse one to a story and it's very fitting for what it projects. I'm curious to know what your inspirations are because it reminds me of some of the animes I've watched but I can't pin it to a particular one. But overall I like the melodramatic feel, and the bitter…

Make sure they're multi-dimensional (personality) characters that have goals of their own. The good romances I seen are more subtle ones, not the direct ones. Don't make a harem... but when in doubt, make a yandere love story, jking.

I wrote a Harry Potter parody back in 8th grade and called him Shavey Planter. He had short red hair and a scar on his chin the shape of a swirl. His two main friends, Henry - a smart, straight-laced guy, and Rebecca - a rule-breaking tomboy, fight evil with voodoo at Sharewarts. :ok_hand:

One Piece, because of its sheer amount of world-building, characters, and memorable moments. Also a lot of rom-coms like Pastel and Yume de Aetara.

Ah, SpongeBob. Perhaps one of the most quotable shows in history.

Two anime series standout to me as the biggest inspiration for my manga, Faith Academy: Eureka Seven - I really enjoyed the journey of Renton as he tries to find his place in the world. The characters had depth and the world was very immersive. The relationship between him and Eureka was heartwarm…
