As for the best way to go about helping with anatomy, try drawing stick figures first! That way, you can track where bones should be going!

This is exactly what I do! I think in my style where everything is imperfectly hand drawn - I don't generate vector shapes or objects or anything - it would be far too obvious if I copied the exact lineart. But copying the skeleton works to keep the final product consistent!
