I love things in little bottles, making comics, writing stories, and getting random cats in the street to notice me. I have a bunch of comics, you can find them all here.

With SIX (seriously!) completed webcomics here on Tapas, I've just started lucky #7! It's called The Wyrm Turns, and it's a story about a knight who accidentally ends up swearing fealty to a dragon instead of killing him. Here's some art! [image] [image] And I also did a trailer for the comi…
I'm currently running a kickstarter for a short story comic collection called The Dodo Knows - , which includes a lot of stories that I first published here on Tapas. It's doing much better than I ever hoped at over 400% funded. I'd done a smaller KS a few years ago, and I was able to build on what …
Ooh you know I think that's changed, when I applied it was 15 pages. I guess they figure that's not enough to get a good feel for the comic. That would have thrown me off a bit though, my comic doesn't have chapters! I feel your pain with the one shot situation. I actually knew about SpiderFore…
RE: The edits on this page, I prefer the original version with the fuller lips and shorter nose. There is perhaps something slightly off about the eyeline of the original drawing, but I think we have to be really careful here about suggesting that the way to make artwork more engaging is to tone dow…
SpiderForest's mascot SpiderFriend is a cutie, though https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DjDXaglUYAACCvK?format=jpg&name=900x900
Aww no! I have always wondered if people who dislike spiders might get put off by the name!
Haha no problem I need to come on these forums more often!
I think it obviously does help a lot in getting readers, but yeah, when one of my friends got a spotlight I found it really insightful to find out that they basically spent a while afterwards decreasing in sub numbers despite the huge hu…
I've got on Staff Picks/ the front page sometimes, but it's a bit of a mixed experience? It's always resulted in a lot of views and subs, but a lot of people don't end up reading the comic or sticking around. If you ever do get featured, be aware that losing a lot of subs afterwards is natural. From…
If you'll need to set up your own site (if you don't have one) and provide promotional images for the SpiderForest website will take up some time upfront. In terms of community involvement, it's one of those things where you get out of it what you put into it? Some members are really busy and don'…
That's totally fine:D Just FYI, you can join the forums and discord without being a member to get to know the community better, and ask for help/critique.
(I'd definitely say don't write yourself off too quickly though - I thought my comic wasn't up to standard art-wise and got in somehow )
SpiderForest is offering free hosting for accepted comics this season, so if you would like your own website you can still apply! Being on hiatus isn't a problem either - it says on the application page that you should be uploading weekly "or be scheduled to return from hiatus " Lots of members …
Nothing major that I can think of? I didn't have my own website when I was accepted last year and so getting one set up did take up a bit of time. A lovely volunteer from SF helped me with most of the technical side of things, but it still required me to create new graphics. Also the SpiderForest …
Hi guys! The webcomic collective SpiderForest is open for applications until July 31st! If you haven't come across SpiderForest before, it's a (non-profit!) collective of quality webcomics, run by volunteers, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and helping each other to achieve. It's been arou…
I have to admit, the fact that you can't use Instagram from a PC has always been a big turn off, but here's my twitter! If you're into weird history, comics, cats or medieval architecture, my twitter is a pretty good place to be!
It's two weeks to Christmas and I'm feeling FESTIVE! Does anyone else have any seasonal comics they'd like to share? I'd love to read them! I'm currently releasing a comic which is a sequel to A Christmas Carol. I'm updating one page a day until Christmas!
Thank you!!! That's my first comic so I'm a bit embarrassed about the artwork these days, but I'm pleased that it's still being read and enjoyed.
I don't know what you're into, but I have a bunch of comics on Tapas and most of them are completed! They're all some flavour of fantasy/historical And he's my ongoing anthropological sci-fi comic:
Eeee thank you! <3 I'm hoping to spruce it up a bit and create a print version later this year. I just have to get my head around kickstarter first...
Awesome, thank you!!! A lot of my stuff does fall under the historical fantasy umbrella, although my current ongoing comic Earth in a Pocket is more sci-fi-for-people-who-like-historical-stuff ;D
Ooh, you could check out my comic Breaking the Lore. It's set in Anglo Saxon Northumbia, with a bit of a magical twist based on Northumbrian folklore. It's completed too, so you don't have to wait around for updates!
Thanks for adding it to your list! I always feel like I'm misleading people a bit by calling it sci-fi - it absolutely is, and aesthetically it's drawing on 1950s/60s pulp scifi, but story-wise it's not a big space-faring adventure. It's more about the characters and relationships.
I'll share my comic Earth in a Pocket! It's soft sci-fi, and psychic aliens play a part in it!
I have my own site because I do lots of shorter projects and I like having somewhere to point people to that collects all of them together. For a while I paid for a domain name and a wordpress, but I've ended up replacing it with a free Wix account for now, which frankly looks better! I use bit.ly…
Lol just after I posted this I ended up on noteworthy, which I don't think has happened before? There's a real temptation to post an extra update just so I can stay on there as long as I can, but that would really mess up my schedule. Fortunately I think staff picks are up for a set period of tim…
Woaaaaah my comic is on trending right now! Right down at the bottom of the front page! This is a first for me.

I used to run an Etsy shop! It was called Teeny Alchemy, and themed around little bottles full of weird and wonderful things. [image] I made a bit of money doing it too - perhaps £100 a month. At first I really enjoyed it. The only problem was, I ended up havin…
Woo congrats! I've ended up in the noteworthy section a couple of times which gave me a little boost, although I'm still a long way from that 1k mark!. I can confirm that you'll probably find a scary number of people unsubbing, and for a few months you might find your stats "going backwards" which…
Woah, looks like you just doubled your subscriber count in a few days!!!
I hit 250 subs and 30 pages with my last update! (And then a few more people subscribed!)
