I really liked Inglorious Bastards, The King's Speech, and Get Low. If they like documentaries, The Dawn Wall is really good, too.

I think what @rajillustration suggested is really great. I would just add that instead of using a black or grey airbrush in the background, to try changing it to a more pronounced periwinkle or light blue or purple.

I'm not sure if that's super it, either? But characters like Ozen from Made in Abyss, or Bernkastel, etc. And yeah, a lot of them do hit others, but I think it depends on how it's done. I imagine a lot of that is a bit exaggerated and it's more like a gentle pat with a show or a little bop, and…

I don't want to link it, out of respect that the author didn't post it, but if you're curious, you might have better luck finding it on google than the forums and then searching the blog name to find the forum post. I'm not sure if comments are enabled on the blog or not, but if you find it, I…

I didn't see anyone else mention it, so far, but I really like characters that are more cold and intellectual, typically holding positions of power or status, but are detached and pensive. Could probably be considered "evil or bad", from certain perspectives. Mysterious or shady aura. I'm not …

My first impression to your post was thinking that I can't imagine most people would be up to the task of reading four year's worth of content and then writing hours long in depth reviews, after examining the notes they took a long the way. That's like a full time job. I'm not sure if there's som…

I think it's off and on, and I bounce back and forth between favoring different ones. I might envision a character to be the lead to start, but I like to give all characters the main character treatment, if that makes sense. The story doesn't revolve around the characters, and every character as i…

Because alien planets can also bear structures reminiscent of those you could find on Earth, as well as similar fauna and flora, I think what would really hone in the fact that is earth is artifacts depicting human life. Statues, carvings, paintings, photos, or anything that features a human fig…

I guess it depends on what you want your story to be about and what kind of information you need for it to be believable. In a fantasy setting, I don't think any research is really needed, unless you want to include struggles of discrimination? In my own stories (unwritten), it's a non-issue. I …

Even if your ideas are super amazing, there's so many people with the same ideas out there. Excecution of those ideas can change so much and whoever reads your script might like concepts you've used, but might not want to refer to it for every scene or dialog and recreate it. In that regards, I'm …

For me, a couple that stand out are when all the characters have the same faces to the point where if they change hairstyles, you can't tell them apart. In terms of storytelling, you can have a lot of panels in an update but it'll feel really short if there's no story progression. There's a few…

I think it really depends on how you're using references. Are you looking at beetles to try to understand proportions, features, how to draw your own? Or are you wanting to copy the image or aspects of it? Not all stock images have the same usage rights and many are licensed so that you can o…

Personally, I shy away from anything in the romance genre. A lot of times, romance tries to take center stage and the world around the two main characters seems to either fall apart or be nothing more than a backdrop. It can be done well, though, but I think for that to happen, you need to put…
