A middle aged queer mechanic named Carmen in Nova Scotia, Canada. My passions are right there in my name: Cars and Men. Also writing and drawing, but that would make for a stupid name.

I’ve got “art dolls” that I use for more complicated pose references, but I’ve also had my husband pose as well. And if it’s a reference like a hand holding something I’ll take a pic of my own hand holding something. Here’s an example of the art dolls (this is actually from when I first bought the…

This is a rare one: An image that I started and finished in the same day. Kind of had to, as it goes live tomorrow. As usual I wasted way too much time with textures that only ended up getting lost when I reduced the image to Tapas size... [image]

I had the paper-texture thing on my Surface, and I liked it, but man, did it ever chew up nibs for the pen. It did go a long way toward steadying my hand though. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find something like it for my Inspiron.

Does anybody know whether they are unlocking support for people with fewer subscribers this time around? I tried checking the Discord thing but that always turns the brain sideways in my head

I subscribe but it doesn't necessarily mean I'm gonna read it right now. It will go into the queue, and once I've caught up with or finished another novel I will start a new one. If I'm subscribed to yours you'll know when I start reading because I tend to binge a half dozen or more episodes at a ti…

I started out with one of those Wacom tablets but couldn't get the hand-eye coordination right, so I decided I needed to draw directly on a screen. I bought a Microsoft Surface Pro 8 and absolutely loved it but found it to be a bit cramped - not to mention the fact that t didn't quite have enough ho…

It looks like it would be awesome. I do hope you do this!

I love Screaming for Vengeance. Back in the very early 1990’s I actually drew the Hellion (the screaming chicken on the album cover) on my 286 computer. With only 1MB of RAM and a VGA video card I was limited to 16 colours at 640x480 resolution. I made my own colours by going pixel by pixel, mixing …

Another fun fact: that’s not actually an April Wine song. It was originally written and performed by a 1970’s funk band called Hot Chocolate. In fact many of April Wine’s songs were “covers”. Here’s the original version of the song: I used to work on Myles Goodwin’s Porsche. We fired him as a …

If I am conscious there is music playing in my head. Back in middle school and high school (so mid to late 1980's) I would sit in class and, instead of daydreaming, I would play full albums in my head. That being said, I don't think I could ever pick my top three songs of all time. I can only say th…

Absolutely! And I'll just add this sentence because minimum characters

I'd read it. Big Clone High fan - I used to watch it on Teletoon At Night back in the early 2000's

It's funny, as soon as I saw that I thought "That looks like @llobucervallince's style"

Wait, are you saying what I think you're saying? Squeals with excitement

Mobile phones and Facebook are used in Defining Daecon. So is cryptocurrency, though the specific “coin” isn’t mentioned

All I can think of is the steam locomotive

I suck at drawing hands. I’m not quite at the AI level of suckage (I usually get the finger counts right) but yeah, I am not a “handy man”, at least not in that sense. I’ll often take a picture of my own hands or my husband’s to use as a reference.

Today's "Breaking Cat News" comic by Georgia Dunn (You can follow her on GoComics. I highly recommend her comic!) is on point: [image]

Stella looks like she would make a coat out of herself

The human race has only got to last another 30-40 years or so (which would put me between 83 and 93 years old)

I cannot stand AI "art". It pisses me off every time I see somebody share an AI-generated meme on Facebook, and I will usually point out that it's AI garbage. Yes, I am "that guy". AI "art" is theft, and not only that, it's creepy. Vacant expressions, ungodly finger counts (I even have a screensho…

You'd have to ask my father, who, thanks to a lifetime of laziness and overeating, has become basically immobilized. He can (barely, and not always) make it to the bathroom and back. He lies on his bed all day, watching TV and barking orders to my mother (who is suffering from dementia). Bitter? I…

I forgot my Ginger Bear (and Jake's former husband), Jonathon. His bird form is a red-tailed hawk, his mammal form is a gigantic red moose. [image]

It wasn't fun to live through such tragedy, but it's helped to shape who I am today (for better or for worse)

Daecon had blue hair at the start of the story: [image] ...But it was only dyed and has since turned white: [image] Jake, a tertiary character that I have decided that I like and so have big plans for him, also has blue hair. Unlike Daecon, his hair is naturally blue. As with Daecon he is a shap…
