How do you manage anxiety when trying to promote your work?

Questions

I've always been pretty bad with any and all self-promotion type stuff, and I hear here on Tapas it's good to engage with other people... but talking to people is?? scary??? even online???? Anyone who has similar anxiety have any good tips?
