I mostly think of myself as an editor, but sometimes I slip out of my chains and escape to write for a few hours. My primary Tapas project is an insane combination of satire, space opera, riff comedy, and roleplaying game: https://tapas.io/series/Alien-Fiction .

Awooo (plus character limit)
Hello, editing is kind of my thing. These forums have a rule against advertising services, so I'll reach out by Discord also with my info.
Of the three, I would choose Elemental Magic. It seems the most inherently safe choice. Even if I do screw up a spell, the limitations of my body hold me in check, and I won't end up accidentally turning everybody in the village into newts.
I'm just about to start reading Mistborn, a series renowned for its magic systems. I previously read two of Brandon Peterson's other stories and quite liked the magic systems he created for both of those. He's been critized for actually having better magic systems than characters. My cyberpunk nov…
N0ne likes listening to any tracks of calming instrumental music and nature sounds. It helps her recover from the chaos and stress of her life and focus on her meditation. For an A.I. in a robot body, it's a little unusual to walk into her room and hear wind chimes or jungle rain. Wink has basical…
Last year, I put forward half-hearted efforts with both AO3 and Wattpad. I've yet to pick up a single reader in either one. Thus, I am in no position to evaluate the community. If no one leaves comments, there is no interaction. The audiences on those sites seem bigger, but it's much more difficult …
[image] The local police are so incompetent that they cannot solve crimes which a ten year old resolves in minutes.
Quickly, I would just like to add something. CreateSpace vs LuLu My wife and her writing circle have self-published their books for the last eight years or so. They sell physical copies at convention dealer tables, so bookstore viability is not much of a concern. For the actual printing, they hav…
I actually find this sort of extensive revision to be admirable. I will probably end up rewriting my current novella after I complete the draft that is up on Tapas right now. I know for certain that I will be splitting it into two different versions, one a fan-fic set in the world of Cyberpunk and t…
SWISH, WOOSH, SWOOSH -- these all work for me. The term for a word which is pronounced like the sound it makes is on·omatopoeia /ˌänəˌmadəˈpēə/. Other examples include CLICK, HONK, and MEOW.
I don't see it often. In 50 Shades Deeper, there's a horror short story which takes place almost entirely as a chat log between two characters. It's a form of dialog, and it was used to great effect.
I'm not requesting a review. I just want to say thanks for doing this.
I write goofy sci-fi stories about killer robots and aliens who look like farm animals. Face claims have never been much on my mind. I have thought a good deal about voices because I would like to produce some audio books if I can ever get together a setup which didn't sound like bottled static. I'v…
You look good, and that's what's important. To make sure I have enough characters to post, I'm now rambling about punctuation. In "The Hidden Universe" by Anthony Peake (non-fiction, 2019), the British author does something I rather like. He places his punctuation (full stops and commas and the li…
Hmm. Big Hmm. My current project is probably the first thing I've ever written in which shipping is even possible. Before this, it was mostly killer robots and strange god-aliens cracking bad jokes. Maybe I'll come back here and take a pass at it when I'm putting together my second draft in a few …
"Drink plenty of fluids, and for crying out loud, don’t lick it.” (No link because I'm all mysterious like that)
I'm see great offense, terrible defense. If an urumi wielded and a sword weilder square off, it'd get ugly. The urumi has much greater range, so it will likely inflict injury long before the sword user can get close enough. Shields don't help the sword-fighter much, but certain armors could help a…
Solemate: noun. a checkmate performed with the bottom of a shoe. Wait, were we talking about?
Anna turned and backed into the dark room, performing a perfect four-legged moonwalk. no link for you! happy holidays, weirdos
Oh booger, I forgot to add my book title.
The colors on your cover go really well with the template. That looks great. @HVOICE That palette change was a 3D Chess move. @BlushFlower Yours is clearly the best use of the comic template. Welcome to Tapas. [image]
I often do not realize how strange these sentences are until I look back at them in an editing mood. Two warriors sat down at a tiny noodle shop in the Little Busan neighborhood of Neo-Miami. We don't post links in Neo-Miami.
I don't have a specific method nor philosophy. I simply observe that an opening scene should establish the tone and style of the story as a whole. If it's an action tale, en media res or some other action sequence is great, but that same scene would be wrong for a brooding mystery or a smoldering ro…
It's a Double Ink Weekend again. I made some room on my phone by temporarily deleting apps which I think I will not be using over the weekend. I'm going to try Clone Evolution (which looks like a long commitment game but is maybe worth a try), Alice Letters(a massaging app), Dicey Queen (a dice game…
We congratulate you on crossing that 50k mark, @domisotto. As for my own writing, it's not been nearly as proficient. I got very busy with work over the last four days. Had car problems today which sucked up my free time and probably will for the rest of the week. So, my NaNo project is sitting at …
I understand your concern. When you steer away from using proper nouns (which you should steer away from doing), it becomes tricky to find a title that isn't already used. A quick search of books on Amazon turned up nothing with a plural "Supernaturals" in the title, so you seem to be okay from a tr…
She said gently, "The Five Laws said nothing about cheating, Beop Sa." Out of context, this line doesn't do anything. You'll have to take my word for it that this was a b@d@$$ moment. It was cool almost to the point of self-parody.
I use "it" as a pronoun for my robotic protagonist. What is the most grammatically correct depends on which grammar guide you are using. For example, the Chicago Style Guide as of 2017 endorses the use of singular "they" in informal writing but rejects ot completely in formal writing. You might wa…
I sent a care package full of sanity. It got returned to sender. Apparently, I don't want it, you don't need it, and the post office won't touch it. Seriously though, that does seem like an impressive degree of research. Are you writing a non-fiction project?
