Good afternoon, good morning, good evening and good night.
^ I totally stole that line from the Truman show lmao.
This thread is to announce I have left 10,800 comments to other creators since joining Tapas.
Why the odd number exactly? What's so special about 10.8K? Well Tapas has roughly 108,000 comics. If for each comment there was a comic. I'm about 10% of the way there.
That's.. kind of nuts. What I kind of want to highlight with this goal, is that webcomic hosting sites whilst they seem massive and overwhelming with the amount of stuff they have on them. It is more feasible to see a god chunk of them than you'd think.
Now granted Webtoons is 10 times bigger than Tapas at 1.8 Million comics but the thing is. You don't have to read inactive comics, you don't have to comment on every chapter of an inactive comic (I have in the past admittedly some stuff is just golden lmao). One thing i've been doing is just going through the featured section on the front page in the community comics sections and just typing 'congratulations on such and such a pick in such a such section'.
You're probably wondering why I should take time out of my day to congratulate people who are being promoted by the site itself. Shouldn't smaller comics be getting the comment support *cue Teacher from Charlie Brown's voice'. Well I'll read whatever I like LOL, small comic, staff pick whatever, there's so much interesting stuff to experience that it's worth trying to experience it all. It's worth trying to chat to people even though my inbox is always flooded it's sort of an odd pleasure trying to get on top of it all. It keeps me busy.
I want to say that this forum is a very supportive and very wonderful place, there are tons of novelists and creators, that really do go out of their way to leave comments and be supportive. It's the sort of thing that restores people's faith in humans as a species. Yes there's tons of sub for sub threads but that doesn't mean that there aren't people who are engaging properly and doing their best. Engaging with others is what will always work best no matter where you find that person. Lot's of people in the promotions section are genuinely trying and it is nice to see. Shoutouts btw You know who you are and we love you. One thing I will say is that Tapas is surprisingly active, I leave comments on comics and novels that are years old without an update and I tend to get replies. Which is great! I don't think the site itself is in any trouble, I know a lot of people have been pretty doom and gloom about Tapas but I don't think the pessimism is warranted in this case. Lot's of people have been coming out of the woodwork, to my knowledge the sites doing well for readers, so yeah *fingers crossed I think we're ok *touches some wood.
So yes thank you for having me as part of this community :). aiming for 108,000 is going to be like an episode of Man V Food. I guess the title would be Pigeon vs Webcomic hosting Site. If Tapas lives long enough the Pigeon will win ! I'm still young and i'm 10% of the way to my goal after 7 months
so 7 times 9 it'll take me 63 months to see everything LMAO.
Yeah it's a good job i'm young x'D
