This is not my OC and I copied his coloring.

I made a 15 minute sketch of Janani K Jha today and this quick drawing of Maomao last night

Can't share the finished piece cuz it's a magazine commission but here's the sketch for what I made today. I can't believe I used too not be able to sketch at all because I always went straight to making line art and now some days it's all I can manage. Burn out is the worst

It was the same for me
I grew up thinking artists would all drew like that because
I only knew videos of comic artists who drew the outlines
directly and that gave me the impression that this the only
way to draw.

My older brother still draws his comics like that. No sketch,
final outlines directly.

I´m obsessed with construction and sketching now and
it helped me to get better and understand what I´m doing.
The good thing is that you need less and less lines when
you do it for a while. There are some things that I drew with
construction that I can draw without needing the sketchlines

I´m doing a Paris Christou course.
It´s really interesting to revisit a teacher that I learned from
10 years ago. I would do a lot of things differently than him.
The fat coloring part is really not very time efficient and also
not good. I like his art style and I want to learn how he uses
the airbrush, blending etc. that´s why I´m doing the course.
I like how it turned out so far, the next part will be the things
that are new to me. I never really used the airbrush for anything,
I only played around with it.

Reminds me of old Disney art back in the days of the cartoon Cinderella and such

Yeah, that´s why I love his art, it´s a mix of Disney and Dean Yeagle pinup style,
2 styles that I adore

Another sketch I have to turn into a finished illustration this week

Small progress in the coloring, I did the hair a bit and the bathing suit.
I´m happy that I redrew his sketch instead of using his outlines.

I think I slowly get a better grasp of what the instructor is showing
me, instead of just blindly following it step by step.
Everything about this is against my nature because it´s
so vague and subtle, a little bit of redish airbrush here and
going over it with the orignal color to blend it and so on.
It hard because you don´t see it like when you are doing
flat colors and when every border is clear.

On the other hand it slowly starts to look more pro.
My goal is to have no visible outlines in the future and
a complete painterly look

I am officially brain dead. Had to redesign two commissions literally five days from the deadline. The exhaustion is real. Let's just hope the editor likes the new versions.

I finally finished everything but the word bubble and a few tweaks. This has literally been in the works for eight months so I'm very proud of myself. Couldn't finish the bubble cuz I have to charge my pen

No erasing is a great practice.
Another good one is silhouette drawing, it´s great for poses.
