Did this piece from start to finish in like 24 hours. An experience I hope not to repeat

I think I´ll never want to flat anything again after finishing the commission I´m working
on. 100+ layers which are connected with each other.

What was the main problem with your illustration?

[Leyelle]

100+ layers? That's insane.

The person who commissioned me decided they didn't like the original version of two of the pieces I made them five days before the deadline even though I'd asked them more than once if they were satisfied or needed any changes

I'm not really satisfied with the troll's posture in this one

Yeah, it´s very detailed and the customer wants layers because they are working
with masks. A building can already have up to 20 layers, window frames, glass, interior (wallpaper),
furniture, curtains, roofs, visible bricks, + there can be multiple buildings in the same picture. Trees
in front of the buidlings, trees behind the building. It drives you nuts after a while because you
have to think from background to foreground

Oh I know this situation with illustrations. Some customers are also hard to understand or
satisfy when they can´t express or are not sure what they want exactly

That moment when you realize you can't draw a gargoyle because at what other tools would I ever need to draw a fxxking gargoyle lol

That looks pretty garoylish to me.

I´m still flat coloring with infinite layers, the layers never end and
just when I think I´m done I discover more details that I have to
flat. I have 3 more of those to do. The customer is happy with
it and that what´s count, but it´s hard to stay focused.

There is one positive side effect, I´m really fast at flat coloring now
and my technique, short cuts, masks, etc. got a lot better and more
structured.

Well at least it's helping you improve. It can be exhausting tho. I understand the struggle to stay focused

I'm doing 100 days straight again. Yesterday was day one and I painted this

If you can't tell, painting is not my strong suit. I also used a but of acrylic marker on this. It was my first time ever using them and I'm pretty sure I did it wrong

Painting, rendering and shading, traditional and digital, is all really hard for me

I included one of those sphere drawing lessons in the corner. I think my spheres are getting rounder lol

That´s true, I spent all of my time on fundamentals, probably because I
have a very analytical mindset when it comes to visual art. Exactly the
opposite to my non analytical mindset when I make music. I don´t
know why. I´m super concerned with theory and "getting it right" before
I can continue when I draw.
