The story started off with 1st POV until the mc grew up enough to talk however, I find it really difficult to write in 1st POV fighting scenes when 3 or more people are involved, I get the feeling that the view of the battle scene would be limited if it was written on 1st POV, but I decided that I should use 1st POV when it comes to dialogues and 3rd POV when it's a battle scene. I wonder if it isn't confusing to read?

Personally, I think it would be better to stick to 1st POV if that's where you're used to and switch perspectives from time to time so that it isn't as limited. You know what? I think it really is too limited after all. How about making a note about switching to 3rd person when it begins?

In my opinion 3rd POV is better for battles because when you are in one you can't be focusing on many things, only you/your loved ones and on your attacker. While if you are writing in 3rd POV you can give attention to smaller details your character wouldn't pay attention to. Its the best to put warning like "3rd POV" or "third person point of view" however you want

While it would be limiting and fairly difficult to pull off a good action sequence in first person. It will be even more difficult to make the perspective shift natural and smooth. Fights are snappy and quite a lot goes on in very little, so you can take some liberty in what your character experiences without making it seem out of place. But if you keep most of your novel in first person and only switch to third in battles. You will lose the immersion that the reader already has, and that immersion is key in the foundation of any action scenes. If you can think of some way to naturally change perspectives during fight scenes, then go for it. Otherwise, I would not personally recommend it.

I personally find it hard to write battle scenes from 1st POV too, that's why I switch to 3rd person. But I've recognised that it sometimes is indeed confusing for readers. And in my work I use multiple points of view, thus it doesn't really make a big difference (I think) if I write from another POV or switch to 3rd person. However if you just write form the main characters POV its a bit of a different story.. Maybe just sticking with 1st person is for the best. But again I'm sure that it would be totally alright if you leave a note at the beginning, I think it would be good change of rhythm too!

I personally don't feel limited at all when it comes to first person fight scenes. Hell, I do an entire book of first person fight scenes and I'm fine with it. Weirdly enough, I find the limited nature of first person combat to be pretty convenient, since I don't need to stretch every inch of detail across every participant.

My main story, a first-person action-heavy work:

Not much of a difference. It depends on your comfortability. If you use first person, then you can expand the tension by focusing on the protagonist’s emotions. Howbeit, you are limited to what he sees and experiences. You can take it as an advantage to implement "unreliable narrator" technique without worry. Since it’s already first person, narration is not reliable to begin with.
