I'm turning 24 this month! After high school i did a 3 year Bachelor of Game Design, but dropped out in my last semester because I knew I didn't want to work in games (and wasn't going to graduate on time anyway, because of one pesky class). I really needed the mental health break, and was able to finish that last class and graduate later!
When I dropped out, I started working on my first comic, Rechargeable, and had a retail job to keep me afloat. I started streaming my art regularly on Twitch and moved several houses to try and afford better rent. Two years later, I'm living out of the city in a much cheaper home, working on two comics at once, streaming full time(!!) and no longer living paycheck to paycheck. Being able to officially quit my retail job back in october 2017 was the most surreal experience, and I've been supporting myself from my comics, commissions, and streaming.
Everything is ~good~ right now, so unbelievably good, and I feel so lucky to have gotten the opportunities I've gotten, but I know I've also been working so hard and I'm proud of all that paying off. I'm currently saving up to put a mortgage down on an apartment back in Melbourne, so I can continue working in my favourite city, back where all my friends live
