I am assuming that this needs to be a brand new creation for this contest? Or are we allowed to use a previous comic that we created in the contest?

Since the main part of the contest will take place on Facebook and Facebook isn't exactly the most honorable of places, will there be some wait to check if likes and shares are legitimate or botted/paid for? It would suck for someone to miss out on winning just because someone else has access to bots or paid likes.

@Vyncent The 4-Koma comic must be 4 panels long. The only other constraint is submissions should be no more than 1200px wide.

@dukestewart Feel free to include it in your series! There is no exclusivity requirement

@AshSkyes Color is fine.

@Will Yes, it should be a brand new creation.

@nycanth Yes, we will check the top entries for suspicious business. If we find someone has used dishonest means, we will move onto the next-most top entries and repeat the process.

It only can be vertical? i think for facebook its look better a square 4-koma than a large one :c idk just askng

it may not be the optimal format for facebook i imagine it'd provide a link back to the episode on tapas for better viewing as there's probably some hope for it to bring more users either artists/readers to the site/app

But for real, I'm very happy about this contest. Its moving me out of my comfort zone in a way that I've really been enjoying.

Not too happy about the voting through likes part (as someone mentioned tends to end up being more of a popularity contest than a fair selection process) still though, I'm going to give it a shot since I haven't drawn a single new episode for my comic in a while :stuck_out_tongue:

I only have a paper and pencil, so will the comic strip be judged on the quality of the picture taken of the art?

Yes, it will be judged on the quality of the picture because the Top 25 will be included in a public album. Fore more information, please refer to our "How to Enter" section in the newsfeed post to give it your best shot!:

For traditional artists:

Try to print out the provided template or use rulers to define the 4-koma panels clearly

Inks are preferred, but pencils are fine if clean and dark enough

Scan artwork or take a very clear, well-lit photo but please resize so that it is no more than 1200px wide at the most.

JPEG only - no PDF or TIFF, etc.

Last question here (sorry should have thought of this earlier). When we create this comic, is it ok to have our strips name/logo on the top like it normally is,or should it be removed entirely from the piece?

Just a bit confused... does 'no more than 1200px wide' mean it is both for the length and width of the comic? Or only the width?

are we allowed to "break" the panels? like when a character moves to the other panel or something like that.

Just the width. In other words, Tapas is requesting you do a mobile friendly format in that it's narrow but long like a fettuccine noodle.

Why not? Most 4-koma have four independent unattached boxes (panels).
