940 px limit of episode downgrades quality, please help!

Hi, I'm in a difficult situation rn:
I just started uploading comics and found out, that it has a limit of 940 px wide.
Therefore I tried to fit my artwork on pages with the right sice. It downgraded the quality immenlsy. Its no longer streight outlines but pixels.
Then I tried to use pages in the right sice for drawing new episodes from the beginning but it has the very same effect. My program (which is for free and maybe just shitty) doesn't draw streight lines in this sice.

How the h*ll are you guys dealing with that?? Any free programm that doesn't give up quality for pixels?
I don't want to start all my work over again so I have to stop producing buffer episodes until I fixed that problem, which is bad for my timetable.
Please Help!

That's normal. It'll look really noticeable to you, because you've seen what it looks like at high resolution, and you're probably looking at it in a browser window on a large-ish monitor, but try not to worry, it'll look just fine to readers, because 90% or more of Tapas users read on mobile devices, and they don't have the original high res version for comparison.

• Use "smart object" in Photoshop or Photopea
• take screenshots of the image when you have it on your computer screen

Make your comic any res you want.
This is one of the best free resizers. Many of us photographers use it.

Resize width. Use one of the sharp output encoders. png as file (uncompressed if possible) tapas hates jpeg from my findings.
Final file will look like garbage. Thats tapas.

It’s true, there’s honestly not a lot you can do about that. It was driving me crazy at first, too, but then I realized it was because I kept zooming in to examine the details and that the readers weren’t really going to be doing that.

I also decided to offer larger, higher res versions posted on my Patreon page that looked the way I wanted them to look, so higher quality pages could be a gift to my Patrons. Maybe you could post versions of the comic that you like better on tumblr or instagram and let your readers know that’s an option if they want them.

Just frame it as another good reason to back your Patreon!

(It's also a good selling point for print books down the line).
