A lot of BL / Yaoi fans hate women, but why?

Same! I was like...12 when I read it. It was so glamourous and dramatic. But yeah. I outgrew it when I was like 15, lol! Looking back, it still pisses me off, lol. Learned a lot of no-nos with that one.

I don't think it's this. I'm pretty sure the introduction of a female love interest in an obviously BL or yaoi book feel s like a pointless distraction or a pull for cheap drama. Granted that's not the case in all stories because plenty of gay people (or any other sexuality) still have problems with accepting themselves for a variety of reasons and entering into a heterosexual relationship is a way, that I've heard of, to escape that acceptation.

This has me wanting to re-read it! I haven't read Gravitation since I was a kid! A favorite of mine (when I was young!) was 'The Tyrant Falls in Love.' Like, as an adult, I see the very large red flags ALLLLLLL over that story, but I still enjoy re-reading it

OMG. Every fandom ever. Here comes a female who a huge group hates because she's 'annoying' or 'doesn't deserve her (fill in the blank, power, status, what have you)', but what it really comes down to is the don't want her paired off with whatever male character she is obviously after or getting paired off with.

Nope, but I see lots of clumsy hateful portrayal of women by women in fanfiction or original stories and it is as much a turn off for me as every hot woman hurling herself at the main male character in male-written fiction and practically begin them into a relationship. Both are almost inevitable sign of beginner writing. Eventually, they either advance to a more nuanced portrayal or there is no helping them...

Yeeees!! I was having my mind blown every chapter with those twists and turns, lol. But then Fruits Basket, DNAngel and the Toonami shows came into my life and the conflict in Gravitation didn't do it for me. The main lead really got on my nerves and so did his friend, man. I just wanted the MC to go with his best friend, lol.

What kind of red flags? some shoujos from the 90s are full of almost r*pe. =/

R*pe and almost r*pe is still very prevalent in yaoi as well. The whole "he's saying no but obviously he means yes" stuff is aaalll over the place. It's pretty rare to find a yaoi where they get it on and the uke doesn't say "no" and get it anyway st least once in the manga's run.

I totally get it, men writing women bad is almost a given (there's even a subreddit for that) but then you have women writing women like they hate women, it's so weird... please rec me stories that empower women, thanks.

Sorry I wasn't specific. In the second half I'm more or less talking about characters in BL or inspirations for such, not the readers themselves since the majority of readers are heterosexual women.

Hot random is generally a huge jerk, and they almost always win, because toxic relationships are popular in fiction... I hate it too, give me the best friend. xD

I love Seacliff on Wattpad in that category. It has pretty much everything! Gay relationships, polyamory and amazing portrayal of womanhood.
