A lot of views but no subs?

Lately my daily Views has gone up, but.. I haven't gotten any new subs.

Which I think is a bit weird.
I get that people might just read the prologue, not like it, and then move on. But I can see (From my obsessive stalking of my stats) that lately people have been reading 5+ episodes, and sometimes all of the episodes, but they still aren't subbing.

Which is why I'm just wondering if this is something that happens a lot?
-Since I find it weird, as I usually sub to things I like within the first two episodes.

Also, the subs I already have seemed to sub within a few episodes as well.

So what's your take? Does this happen on your novels as well? How do you guys usually decide when to sub to something?

If you notice, your views drop significantly as time passes, going from 91 views on the first chapter to 47 views on the second chapter, 27 views on the third chapter and so on.

Likely, your novel has been featured somewhere, our you yourself advertised it somewhere, either on the forums or somewhere else. Either way, this means that many people are taking a look at your novel, but many of them are deciding not to subscribe, and they drop off after the first couple of chapters.
I would know, I had and still have a similar thing happening, ever since I went on that huge campaign of advertising my webcomic all over the forums, once I discovered they existed.

Bottom line is:
People are finding your novel, one way or another. Even if they're not subscribing, it doesn't matter, because it means that your novel is more visible, and thus you're highly likely to gain a new sub or three eventually.

Oh, side note, I don't know if you know this already, but I noticed you uploaded several chapters on the same day.
If you're looking for visibility, it's better not to do this. You can only get on the trending tab once per day per chapter.

It's better to space your uploads out, not only so that you can get on the trending tab more often, but also so that you don't risk burning out readers.

Yea, I do notice, and I also know my novel isn't for everyone, so I totally understand that people check it out, and then move on (As I wrote)

Oh, I'm sorry, I was rushing to write a response and get back to my work, so I only skimmed.
It's likely that some readers are more tenacious than others. Some of them might really be hoping that they enjoy the novel and thus sticking around for many if not all of the chapters, hoping that they find something for them.
Additionally, I'm not quite sure how Tapas counts views, and if they count the views of people who don't have a Tapas account but are reading, then that might also explain some of the ghost views.

If it does count those, it would explain a lot, haha.

I kinda had a question instead of being able to answer your own question.

What do you expect from views towards subs? Like you would expect 1 sub with 100 views? Or isn't there a trend?

@KRWilliams thanks! It's a bit reassuring, but I still find it a bit weird that some people read 70 word pages worth and then doesn't sub... xD

@WolfUnderTheMoon89 Hi! I don't think you can have any expectations towards that. In the start, about half of my views subbed, and now I'm lucky if a fifth subscribe.

My guess is that it's partly about how well you have presented what your novel is, so people deciding to read it get what they are expecting, and then they sub. But I don't know. I don't think it's something you can set a ratio on.

As an example. My current ratio is 18 subs out of almost 100 views on the first chapter, so about 20% sub rate. -But I don't think that will hold up at all. So I can't really answer your question, since it's pretty different from novel to novel I guess...
