I just tend to listen to action-y music in general. Sometimes it helps me get into the mind space, but I don't always need it. I've spent so long fighting (karate) and imagining fighting that I just slip into it easily xD

Here's my fantasy novel, The Dragon's Scale, a project really close to my heart due to its origins  Also, a little pitch for it.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON X LEGEND OF ZELDA with the modern times and tone of PERCY JACKSON

A 16 yo boy with a hero complex finds himself soul-bound to a dragon, fulfilling dreams he has had since he was a child, but it all changes when his family is dragged into the middle of a magical war. With lives at stake, he will have to learn quickly and adjust to his new teammates before its too late.

And here is a pitch for my original anime-esque story! Writing it more for fun and on the side, so less frequent updates.

NARUTO X BLACK CLOVER X MY HERO ACADEMIA X JU JUTSU KAISEN (plus probably many more ;D)

In a world where falling stars created monstrous demons but also gave humans magical powers, a group of Astrals-in-training must learn to master powers granted by a cursed star while facing a threat that has been growing since the first star fell.

I think it really depends for me. I like to listen to upbeat music to draw my comic, but not so much for the toning and coloring steps. If I listen to a song too long, I get board of it, and it just doesn't hit quiet right. But when I am in the zone, I will repeat the same song for hours.

My series is a dark fantasy, action comic. Although it isn't super dark yet, I want to ease the readers into the terrible stuff that is going on, because I feel like they should discover the dark activities that are happening. I think it feels more natural this way.

here is the music I have been feeling lately

There are a lot of action elements in my series. Lots of action and adventure elements.

I can't have two things going in my head at one time. My creative thoughts need center stage. I can't even think until my wife gets off the phone. Other words and sounds entering in only tend to disturb the still deep lake of my thoughts.

As for action, I like to think my writing is action-oriented in a laid-back manner. In The Faerie Dusters, I have my main characters engaged in fight scenes and quick-paced adventure sequences. Two of my secondary characters are involved in a flood that is followed by an earthquake.

In my novel, Star Seeders, the action sneaks up behind and catches even me off-guard.

In The Space Bum, a group in search of a lost individual is beset by attempts on their lives against the backdrop of mounting civil war.

I usually have to sit in silence when I draw the initial sketches(I feel like it takes all of my brain power to write/choreograph fight sequences), but listen to all kinds of different things when I'm doing lineart/colors.

This is mine, it's very action heavy in the first chapter. The sequences in that one took FOREVER :cry_02: It's also got a lot of sci-fi and drama elements worked in.

Because I do my own fight choreography (physically) both for the sword fights and hand to hand (yes the neighbors are often surprised to see me flailing around with my sword or foil through the living room) I tend to not want music playing so I can concentrate on the feel the whatever it is I'm doing. I was a dancer when I was younger so music tends to affect me in a way that isn't conducive for figuring out what move comes next.

Afterwards? oh yeah.

There's not much action in my comic yet, but there will be in the future! It follows an interstellar courier, who finds himself mixed up in a rebellion against an anti-mage regime.

And yes, I do love choreographic action sequences to music! I'm looking forward to drawing upcoming fight scenes. My protagonist at the moment is staying very passive, since that's usually the best idea when dealing with scary, armed pirates who outnumber you.

yes, it does a lot. especially if you watched as much anime as I have. When you start anime music in the background and your character enters this rage mode or power-up you can almost picture the fight perfectly as well as capture the emotions it gives. That's what I strive to achieve in my story

Music really helps. I listen to it while drawing. Really helps your imagination flow!

Oh heck yeah, this is definitely for me! All of our series are action packed. Check it out!

For me, music helps with everything in my comic, action scenes, regular scenes, character design, mood and tone of scenes, etc. It's to the point where I've built up an entire playlist for LOSTLAND. I do switch things up once in a while though, but sometimes I run into more music to add to the playlist too

Mine is mostly focused on fantasy but there is a quite a bit of action!

I definitely find music that helps me get into the mood. Especially the ones on youtube where it's like "playlist that makes you feel ____." Though currently through the series there's only been a training session that has been presented there's many more fight scenes to come.
