It is weird...I was losing subs coz I hadnt updated in MONTHS(I was on break & also working on art for the new chapter). I finally rolled out the new chapter and my subs went up again- then within a week I lost those same few I had gained. I've been scratching my head about it...

Everyone is strangely in decline. The only comics that are growing massively are the ones they hide in our personal recommendation. There's a comic called "fragmented" that has been recommended to me for about 6 months now and its number of subs have suddenly skyrocked to 340k, even though it didn't update much during the contest time, just as usual. I also get purple Hyacinth hidden in my personal recommendation for over 3 months now, as if these were the only comics alive, come on webtoon! Anyway, they probably only want to pay more to the artists they pick to be top, since they don't want to pay much for the rest of us, they use the excuse of now being a time where everyone's gone back to school or some BS of the sort.

I am far from popular and faaaar from the treshold to apply for the Ad revenue (I just started my comic for the contest), so it is hard to judge any trends, but towards the end of the contest, I kept losing subs, 1-2 a day and when I update, I lose just about as many as i gain I was wondering if I should simply just do a better job or this is a trend for more people. So you are giving me a bit of hope it may get better in time. I really hope

i feel you all D: as i said before in this thread my stats were really tanking.. from july to mid september i LOST over 1500 subs (i was updating regularly,yes) before that i usually gained 2-4k subs a month although it had started going down a little since june..august was the first month in over a year where i had below 100k views per episode (4 eps that month) before that it was almost always annoyingly close to 200k per ep..

but now SE;ki has been on the "binge worthy" recommendation list on the front page in the ap for over 2 weeks and i'm finally gaining subs again (yay) i will probably lose alot when they update that list tho...but its nice to see my stats going up again ;A;

but some weird things im noticing even now is that i cant seem to get on the popular top 5(in drama)..and if i do or get close to i get knocked down to like 20 as soon as i update shouldn't it be the other way around?
i also get email notifications that i should update SE;ki even though i update every feiking week D:

but maybe all our stats are tanking because of the contest? there's so many more comics now so people are spreading out more?

when my stats got frozen once and I contacted them, I received about 5k followers and like 40k pageviews magically in the next two days without receiving any answer from them

basically the same thing happen to me
instead of answering us thay just promote us somewhere and hope we will be content and keep quiet

huh, that's really weird. I get that updating will make you drop (cause the ranking is based on stats since you last updated, so if you just updated the algorithm thinks your stats suck ) But it's very weird that you dropped so many subs especially since you were doing so well before....

I hope that doesn't happen to me since i've been doing so well recently, at a very similar rate to the stats you stated you originally had ;-; I hope your stats even out/return to normal but haha it's difficult to say if it'll ever get solved with webtoons

The same happens to me... I mean, I haven't updated in a good while because of illness, but everytime I update i drop 10 positions out of nowhere, even if my engagement is good... then after a while I climb again, or remain a little lower... of course, I'm not even close of the top 5, so maybe the competition is not so wild, but this is really strange... suddenly everyone got bored with comics that used to be so popular? And what the helll is with them promoting PH and Fragmented in my recommendations? I dont even read hetero romance! Nothing against the creators, for sure, but this is sooooo invasive.... why promote to me content that I'm not slightly interested in?

Those times when we were spoiled haha. I have a friend who still works in his popular webtoon, and when he tried to entered in the ad revenue he was pretty sure Line would reject him due to lots of problematic stuff they "said" they don't want. And surprise, he was aproved two single days later automatically without receiving any notice about it. Like voilá, you're inside( I thought they would send you some confirmation email at least).

Line logic. Increasing minimum stats to make money, manipulating and decresing everyone( or at least the non blessed ones) stats and keep promoting everything you don't like in your face. I'm counting the days they will wait to make PH and other contest strong titles featured, and forgetting about their charity work with the rest of winners. Probably a few months later the contest is over to avoid accusations. But at this point I'm sure they have contacted the author to be sure he/she won't go to other Webcomics app.

My views are less than half of my sub count these days, and have been bad since August. This month has definitely been an all-time low though. At least my subs are finally going up after losing around 50-200 per update.

When will the editors return from Comiccon and start rotating recommended again (´・ω・｀)

Knowing that everyone's views are down is rather assuring. I am also performing very badly in comparison to the last few months. Who knows? Maybe it is just a seasonal occurrence after all.

A strange thing that I noticed is that I was kinda 'kicked out' of the Top 30 (in the Fantasy category) after just 3 days even though I was performing well. I also haven't made it back there since. Which is rather unlucky for me as it was the only way I could my get my comic noticed.

Did anyone else had that happen to them?

I also never had the chance to get promoted in any way. Maybe webtoons doesn't think my comic is worth it. Well, maybe it really isn't, but with 20k subs it's not too small either...
I'm just scared that my comic might be doomed. : (

when I update, I lose just about as many as i gain

this happens to me all the time and i just figured this is normal cuz like after a day or so, i start to steadily gain more subs than the ones i've lost. i suppose this is just a combination of people hitting the sub button so quickly and forget about the comic until it updates + the 100 subbed comic limit rule (which is ridiculous...)
I've seen a lot of comments claiming they had to "sacrifice" another comic to sub to mine (which is quite flattering ngl haha >///< ) so that might be it...

That's not great to hear Because I don't get the gain. I was losing subs on random days, however, for the last week it may have stabilized. Unfortunately, I have one sub more than I had before my last two updates. And my peak was higher. I will see how it goes, but if I start losing more subs than gain....

That is also what I think happens (people not having space to sub to others). It is just unfortunate.

Honestly, I just wished Webtoons took formal submissions or at least set ground rules so that the craziness of discover wouldn't be so bad. If they want to curate discover, go ahead but at least be upfront and efficient about it. Like I'm happy that the creator of Code Adam got featured eventually, just wish they made it easier for that person. Not everyone can do what the creator of Let's Play did and just quit their job to do comics full-time betting on Webtoons to eventually feature them. Especially since new series that I think are good still struggle to gain an audience, and the creator probably lacks incentive to continue to put in that kind of effort and time. It's not fun being an "underrated" comic, and it's saddening to see them drop their comics or go on a really long hiatus.

Right now, webtoon just sends mixed signals of "taking comics seriously," while having no problem leaving creators in the dark.

@Cloverloy It may have been that a number of bigger comics updated and pushed you off? I'm not really sure. I publish in the "other" genres, so the top 30 list seems pretty unreachable for me, especially since I too never get promoed.

Webtoons is a corporate business. They will always put investors first before creators. It's a similar thing with Youtube / Google. They will find the best way to lessen their costs and maximize profits.

There is no telling what they want to feature, especially they are pushing more American/Western comics as of late. This can also be a good thing for other creators to up their game and create unique stories. I've seen obscure comics getting featured even though they have less than 1k subs.

Webtoon editors are constantly looking for new content that will diversify their current catalog. If your story is similar to their current line-up, it will probably not get featured.

I usually get 1.5-2 million views per month before July. o_o SUSPICIOUS.

Not that it matters to this webtoon. It's not suitable for ad-rev.

I've just got approved (in like, a bit more than 24 hours) after being featured in the front page and gained enough page views to be able to apply. I'm very happy about it, but my money counter doesn't move... Is that normal? ^_^'
Like it has been 2 weeks now and there aren't any ads showing in my comic and because of that no revenue generated. Did this happen to anyone else? ^_^'

the money counter won't change until the 21st of every month. it doesn't go up naturally, they have to update it in the system. so you have to wait a month to see how much you earned. congrats on getting ad rev tho!
