@HGohwell If you're talking to me you're barking up the wrong tree, I'd like to think I have some basic art comprehension to see different styles, my "they all looked the same" was an embellishment for humor sake. While all the trashy yaoi didn't totally look alike, they did have a lot of similarities, just like any other trashy romance. (Also my local book stores didn't carry bara or other more diverse gay manga, just the generic stuff. I didn't learn of bara until I hit my 20's.)

@AmataLenna If I remember right, Little Butterfly and The Day I Became a Butterfly were some of the better quality gay manga?
@Mari Even though nothing extreme ever happened, the sexual tension from the adult man was soooo "fffff"! Weirdly enough I used to read it in hopes of the little boy finding his real poetry-battle partner, but I didn't make it super far. Every so often I check in on it since I liked how the artist's style developed, but I never properly give it a read.
Also I SO have that manga still! Only the Ring Finger Knows, the story is so stupid!
