Any Advice on Holiday Specials?

I've been considering posting a winter holiday special for my ongoing novella — basically a fluffy one-shot of the main character bonding with her sister + a cameo from her love interest. Regardless of whether I post it, I'm writing it just for the fun & the experience I've seen comic artists post holiday specials, but I haven't seen this done with novels on here.

Have any of you posted holiday specials before? What was the response? Do you think it's better to post a special chapter in the same series or as a separate series?

I'm writing one now tbh. It's ultra fluffy. As for response, I haven't published it, so idk ;;;
I'm posting it in the same series, so the readers interested can get to it quicker.

If it was me, I would post the special chapter in the same series. That doesn't only ensure that your pre-existing readers will actually read the holiday special, but since holiday specials are seasonal, I don't expect people uninterested with your current series will flock towards the holiday special one when it's not the time of the year.

It would feel kinda weird disrupting the story, but I think you're right; that makes a lot of sense.

You could always title it "Extra: Christmas Special" just to make it stand out as different in the chapters list :3
