Canada is the ONLY country in the world with Multiculturalism IN the constitution. It def plays a part in Major North.

I've contributed two stories to The Toronto Comics Anthology Vol 3 which is debuting at TCAF!

Folks who will be at TCAF next weekend should also consider signing up for the Word Balloon seminars for cartoonists that they are running on Friday.

I definitely use British/Canadian spelling. (I love my extra 'u's.) I've also noticed that 'eh' exists in the vocabulary of my Earthling characters... heheh.

Heyy! I've heard awesome things about VanCAF, have you been? (it's a long trip but I've been increasingly thinking about going out there some year in future)

I've been once, last year. The building it's held in is beautiful. (And in a great location near the water.)

When I was there, there were so many artists that I've been following online and it was amazing to get to meet them! (Erika Moen, Charles Tan, Camilla D'Ericco, Katie Shanahan, and more!) Gotta love the smaller local comic events !!!

This year the list of exhibitors is going to be even better because I am one of them! (eeep!)

I hope to get out to TCAF one day - seems that more people are able to go to it and it's more established! (VanCAF has only been going since 2012.)

As for Canadian influence, my comic actually takes place in french colonized Canada/New-France. Though it's never explicitly mentioned, I've meant to have it implied with the character names and the general farming village/settlement setting.

My comic DazzWorld has nothing too Canadian about it though, my characters are mostly citizens of the world (and beyond...). I did plan to include some Canadian elements at first, like opening the story in Montreal, but for some reason it just didn't feel "generic" enough for what I was trying to do (from my point of view). So I went with Paris.

My comic doesn't contain anything overly Canadian in it, but the setting doesn't really allow for it. I thought of doing a Canadina based super hero story once but I realized I'm more suited to dark fantasy and steampunk.

Glad to see some fellow Canadians here. I'm from Kingston, ON. I just started posting my comic "Don't Be A Hero" yesterday: https://tapastic.com/series/Dont-Be-A-Hero. I have a couple characters that will be Canadian-inspired, but they won't really be prominent in the beginning of my story. I also love your Major North design. It really reminds me of this Canadian comic character called Captain Canuck.

Both myself (Adam) and Folklore's Illustrator (Colin) are from Canada! London, Ontario and Vancouver respectively. It's very cool to see other Canadian artists representing. Colin will actually be at VanCAF showing off his work and our comic, if anyone else will be in attendance!

Don't think there's much of a Canadian aspect to my characters though but maybe there is unintentionally? But I guess because Canada is so diverse so I've made my characters very diverse as well.

I think the trick is not to be in your face with the nationalism, instead just have a normal story just happen to be set in Canada with a bunch of Canadians. That's why Alpha Flight is a hard sell.

My comic is set in a parallel universe with no real countries in it. I don't think there's anything Canadian to it, other than a strong spirit But you can still check it out, if you wish

I am from Dawson Creek, BC. (Its up north in the middle of nowhere, lol)

My Webcomic, Neon Rabbit, takes place in Calgary, AB, and all the characters are Canadian (so far).

Greetings from both London, Ontario and Vancouver! It's always great to see fellow Canadian artists, and what influences you.

There's nothing wrong with showing a bit of Canadian pride, but try to let it show in subtle ways. I don't think anyone wants to be beat over the head with nationalism, but it's always nice to represent your country with a character or place that opens your viewers eyes to a culture they may not have known much about.

My comics are really influenced off Japanese manga/Asian webcomics so there isn't much Canadian flavour in my works.. other than spelling, maybe?
