Any info on INKR Comics?

A while back, I got a message through Instagram from someone who claimed to be on the INKR Comics publishing team, asking me if I'd want to publish my webcomic with them. At the time I thought it was a scam so I deleted the message, but more recently I've been looking into INKR again and it seems to be a legit company, signing with big-name publishers like Kodansha...
Has anyone worked with INKR Comics before? And if so what is the experience like in terms of pay/exposure/contract?

based on my brief research on them, they were ones mangarock an illegal manga distributor but it seems they want to go legit due to new laws in japan.
id say, wait until they gain more of a reputation, keep an eye on them.

They once had a site called mangarock, where you could read pirated manga. It later got shut down and the creators decided to work on a new and legal project. I've stumbled upon mangarock quite a few times and when I saw it changed, I was interested in the idea of publishing on INKR to push my comic out there. I didn't know whether or not it would be a good thing to do, though...

Yeah, they used to be one of those illegal aggregator sites with an app, but have since revamped to appear "legit". However, they ran into controversy a few weeks ago for paying their translators dirt rates, so I suggest you be wary of them.

Hi, I was invited to publish my webtoon on their site when december 2020, it was not a scam, you don't need to pay them, you can earn through ad at the end of every chapter of you comic/webtoon.

Since indie artist can't have the subscription system, we are labeled as 'free' on our series. Well i don't feel pleasure about it since i was working and process my webtoon on webtoon canvas, i work for dream, but i can't say anything since we are just indie artists.

So until now, of course, ad earning are actually very little if you aren't very famous or popular, and the contact supposed to be ended by now, and they didn't mention any of it.

I checked the review of inkr, mostly bad because of the money subscription, and they still don't work on it, i am still thinking stop the contact since i saw there were some famous indie artist also delete their series on inkr.

If anyone also have experience with them, i would like to know more too, since i dont know is it a good choice to leave them anot.

Yes, it happened few hours ago and i need to share this here.

Artist from webtoon canvas or other platform like tapas, if you receive email from inkr, PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT their invatation!! Locked chapter even worse!

I have been publishing on INKR for 3 years and i can tell you, you are not earning for yourself, but for them.

First of all, if your manga have locked chapters on inkr, people can easily download locked chapters fron inkr and repost to pirated sites.

Inkr will not help you with that, even if they are the one recommend to make it locked chapter, but they will not help you with copyright issues and protect your works. One locked chapter cost 0.31$, not only you can't earn much, inkr will not promote your work either, and they will not care if hacker download your locked contents.

Second, The people from inkr will tell you that, you will get ad revenue, with 50% share, and paying government tax AND other extra fee.

Here is the thing, they NEVER mention how much is the gov tax and extra fee in email and agreement.

When i asked for getting revenue, only then they provide the info.

Gov tax: 15%-24%
Platform fee(google/apple): 15%

Notice, they never mention about platform fee in email and in the agreement, platform fee is counted as the extra fee written in agreement, which means if they add other fee in future, you still need to pay them due to the "extra fee" in agreement.

For example,

If your total gross revenue on the report is 153.56$, you have to deduct 15% platform fee, which is 22.95$, 130.61$ left.
Then minus 50% from 130.61$, which 65.305$ left.
Then their singapore gov tax, deduct 24% from 65.305$, total $49.705 left.

Overall, you only get 49.71$ from your total gross revenue 153.56$. You only get 32% from the revenue.

And they never tell you the details at the beginning. 50% share is not exactly like how it looks. You even helping them to promote their website for free since your manga is in there. They are not promoting your manga but you introduce their platform to your reader, for free.

Please share this to the indie manga creator, they really need to know as i NEED to know this before sign agreement with them.

INKR is not a good website for indie manga/webtoon creator. Please share this to help the community.
