Any other sites to publish your novels?

I want to publish my novel/s outside of tapas and the only place I know is wattpad. Which I grew tired of.

I did try webnovels years ago but the site is sketchy. To me, at least.

What are your experiences in publishing stories/novels outside of tapas? Any pros and cons and advices?

I recommend RoyalRoad. Yeah, it may not seem as flashy as Tapas but there is someone who'll read any story placed on it, for example, sci-fi stories for me. And you will see results if you care about views as I've gotten nearly the same amount of views on RR in less than half the time compared to Tapas. It's also a platform that allows readers to give proper criticism and reviews on how to improve your work.

Now one thing that I could say is a 'con' is that because it can be considered a proper site there will be a standard per say as well as it being a little more competitive depending on what genre you'd be doing.

Tip is that when you want to publish a novel on the site you have to fill out a page on the basic thing of your novel like the genre and stuff but also if you've got the story on other websites you'll have to mention that and go on those websites to say you're also going on RoyalRoad.

I mean I think it is dominated by fantasy and sci-fi but I'm pretty sure other stories from other genre's do fine, it's kinda like Tapas on how it has fantasy and romance kinda dominate the site.

As for the plagiarism, yeah. They just want to make sure the original creator publishes their story on the site. Like when I submitted my novel they rejected it at first saying "we saw the story on another platform if you are the original creator send a post or edit the info saying you're going on royal road,"

Now I see it. You're right, certain sites have different genres and demographic that's dominating.

That's sad. People's stories getting plagiarized that a site has to confirm whether you're the original creator before publishing.

I haven't published much, just starting...
But as a reader, I like AO3 site (https://archiveofourown.org) very much - I absolutely love their tag/filter/search options. I also like Fictionpress.com.

ao3 is a great site, simple but really easy to access the kind of stories you want. i also read original stories there too. I'm currently on their waiting list to get an invite

I heard about fictionpress being the equivalent to fanfiction.net, which is more about original stories but never really got to read anything there. but thanks for telling me

but this is actually really good and smart thing to do, i don't use it (but i did heard of it on forums), if you have your work on different platform you just need to let them know (i think via that different platform) that you will be using RoyalRoad, someone said (on forums but i can't find it) that before you could send them sc ( from your other platform) saying that you will be using RR, but now you need to leave a link because some people were using photoshop to fake sc.

You said you used wattpad so i'm sure you know of mirroring sites that steal from wattpad (it's different than person doing it), and wattpad can't do anything about it

I waited for less than 2 weeks to get an account o AO3, if I'm not mistaken. Waiting was no problem for me as I was in no rush (I understand the speed of going through the list depends on Support team's limited resources). AO3 also has their own FB page.
I find it the most user-friendly site both, from reader's and writer's perspective.

Fictionpress is less user-friendly, in comparison to AO3, but I happened to find one original story there years ago which is pure gold - so the site will forever be in my good graces for that.

You're right. Notifying everyone about you publishing somewhere else is a smart thing to do. To combat people plagiarizing and pretending to be you. Writers work hard but plagiarizers work harder and photoshop screenshots, wth. qwq

Truuueee, I have a story in a mirroring site, sadt wattpad. It will be there until the end of time. I wonder if people actually read there ^3^

True, ao3 is so easy for both writers and readers. I like how simple it is.

Lol, I went to fictionpress after your suggestion and I shouldn't be surprise but it's so similar to fanfiction.net (because, yeah, they're sister sites and all) and then I felt nostalgic, because I'm that old. Which I'm not but the internet made me feel like I am.
