Any Photoshop Users? Need a bit help?

Hello everybody,

Anybody using Photoshop, around.

Well, it's been quite frustrating because it keeps on lagging. Sometimes, it's moving smoothly and everything is great in the world but for whatever reason, it starts lagging and interrupts my flow to a point it makes me procrastinate. I close as many softwares as possible to keep it working smoothly. I tried playing with the performance but still. It's getting me bothered that I'm not sure what to do anymore. I don't know if my old Wacom is a part of it but I have no clue how to keep it work smoothly.

So, can anyone suggest any ideas to help me out?

What version are you using? It could be that either your computer is too old to keep up with a newer version or you need a software update.

I'm using Photoshop CC 2019.

I'm sure what you mean is the frame rates when panning or rotating is lagging, right? Have you tried disabling the OpenCL feature in Performance settings? If you are running on Windows 7, close PS then change the theme to Basic, and then change back to Aero.

I am no help with this version, I still use CS5, aka before they switched to digital versions. This way I don't have to pay annually for an extra brush. I mostly use Clip Studio for art and photoshop to crop for posting lol.

I'm using Windows 10.

What also happens (don't know it is related) is that when, let's say, drawing a line on my Wacom and it doesn't appear and then I shake cursor with my mouse, that line appears. Do you get that, as well?

Maybe it takes too much of your RAM? PS can be really damn heavy. Sometimes I check it, and it's like, nomming on 5Gb of memory.

Maybe start by doing some defragging/disk clean up for your computer, and see if that helps?

I second that.
Photoshop consumes A LOT of resources, and older versions don't do good with up to date Windows.
Although, you could check it because it could lag due a lack of ram or because you don't allow photoshop to use enough ram.
You can check it on preferences/performance:

Make sure there's a detected Graphic Processor (otherwise PS goes nuts) and adapt the ram usage to what works best for you:

In my experience, when Ps has been acting mean to me, I have had to increase the ram usage. But keep always in mind that there are other programs running in second plane, you can't just raise it to 100%. It will depend on your pc.

Yeah I just upgraded my RAM because I was having a similar problem. Between Photoshop and Google Chrome, both of which are RAM-eaters, my computer was hurting. I just upgraded from 16GB to 32GB and so far I haven't had any problems.
