Any tips on gradients?

What the title says. I’m trying too find the most effective way to use gradients to portray this setting. This is happening in a “white void beyond space and time” which would require a lot of white backgrounds but I’m trying not to bore people with it. Thoughts?

That's always a difficult one, but I'm wondering... since it's a white void, does it need to have walls? Maybe you could just show a floor? You can use bits of line (in perspective) like the shadows under foot on the second page to show that there is a ground there.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a mostly stark white background in this situation.

hm...maybe if the void felt more like it was blinding the camera? So some layers of white blur and some soft layers of yellow/blue overlay that goes over parts of the figure?

This is me just playing around to explain what's in my head but I'm having a hard time putting into words.

I think what @rajillustration suggested is really great. I would just add that instead of using a black or grey airbrush in the background, to try changing it to a more pronounced periwinkle or light blue or purple.

And as an addition, maybe using some crosshatching shading will works great too.
