Any weird art quirks you do?

I was at a pride festival a week ago and while i was there i apparently was staring at people a lot, and my kid had to snap me back into reality a couple of times cause i guess i was deeply staring people down. I was studying different outfits the people were wearing since my main character is a high school student, but i didnt think i was making it that obvious.

Sometimes i stare at things for long periods of time and ponder how i would be able to recreate it, most recently staring at the ceiling of a doctors office... like how would i add the details of the black speckles without them looking like tiny holes?

Anyone else have a weird quirk you kind of have no control over when it comes with working on your work?

It's subtle but if I see someone standing or posing in an interesting way that catches my eye, subtly I will start making the motions with my finger of how I would draw that pose if I was working on a piece.

I've caught myself doing it a couple times but now I just let it go.

I do that all the time...unintentionally staring at people. I've had years of practice, though; so I usually snap out of it before they notice. ^^;
I also make faces when I draw, especially when it's a weird pose that I'm having a hard time with. I start looking extremely depressed or angry (for prolonged periods of time...) to kinda get myself "into the feeling" of what I'm drawing, because apparently that helps. XD I have no idea whether other people notice that...sometimes I feel like they do, but I'm usually way too into it to tell.

Hmmm...I dunno. I have a standing desk and I listen to music while I work so I am constantly dancing while I draw, lol. Not sure if that's a quirk, but yeah.

when i look at people's faces i kinda tend to completely zone out and end up staring

also i obsessively eat while drawing even when im not hungry, probably a really unhealthy habit. i'm not sure what's the cause of it because chewing gum doesnt help at all.

i can't listen to music while drawing, it has to be talking or discussion so i play let's plays in the background or listen to podcasts, or play shows on my phone next to my screen until my battery runs out. it has to be something i can follow too, like a plot or an engaging discussion instead of talking in general.

I do the thing where I will stare at people, houses, nature etc and catch myself. It gets especially awkward if i am in a phase where I am obsessed with improving my anatomy on a particular bodypart lol like for example sometimes I will stare intently at how people's hands move. When that bodypart is something more private (like the chest area) I have to be actively aware to not study people I meet because I don't want them to feel disrespected.

Another artist/writer thing I do is like when I am on vacation or at a party, the writer in me is constantly occupied noting actions or locations I can put my characters in.

While working on my art i am probably one of the most jumpy/scatterbrained artists around. I will like draw a little, then run off to vaccuum the floor. Then halfway through vaccuuming i will get bored and draw again. Etc.

I tend to mimic the expressions of the faces I'm drawing lol! I don't do it to references myself, it just happens

constant daydreaming of scenes that i want to write/draw later, and consequently making facial expressions that my characters would make in that given scene (even before i draw them). Like, i'd be sitting in the train and make a face. Hah.

I guess mine would be...

• Tilting my head while drawing, which I've been trying not to do for years with a ...moderate degree of success.

• Stopping pretty dang frequently to zoom out and appreciate what I've done so far ... to kind of... bolster myself to keep going and see how what I just did affected the piece as a whole. It definitely contributes to me being as slow as I am though, oops.

• Setting down my pen for a second (just a second!) and somehow losing it and searching for like 10 minutes or more to find it.

Some of the things i do:

-Walking around while thinking about ideas and some "mini breaks" where i walk around too.

-Sometimes laughting at some of the ideas i get (and then writing them.)

-Doing the facial expressions of the characters i`m drawing

-When i was younger i didn`t liked when people were watching me draw.

• I assigned the "flip canvas" shortcut to the letter "H' on my keyboard, so whenever I'm drawing I spam H like a madwoman to find any mistakes in my drawings. Sometimes I'll be browsing the internet and spam H suddenly out of habit.

• Whenever I'm drawing faces, I always start by drawing a really loose circle. It's not even supposed to be a guideline or skeleton for drawing the face, I just do it out habit.
  

• I like whacking my pencil on the table when I'm drawing... And broke several mechanical pencils in the process :C

I don't do the face thing too much, but I frequently find myself accidentally making sound effects while I draw xD;; Lots of "Pshhh", "shooo", "Krrrrr", "woosh", etc. Not all the time, mostly in active scenes where said SFX would be appropriate, but yeah lmao.

When doing digital art: trying to look at the computer screen from different angles as if I'm going to get a better look at my flat screen.
