The final time I restarted my comic, the previous version had about 120 pages. I restarted it because there were a lot of improvements I was making to the writing, the characters, the world building, and plot points that it would've felt a lot smoother to just restart it with all of those changes applied at the beginning. There were also major issues with the pacing that could only be fixed by restarting it.
Looking back at the earliest pages of the final rewrite, I fixed up the art and dialogue a couple of times to fix the worst anatomy mistakes, and make the dialogue more clear. I accepted that I'm not going to get those early pages to be "perfect" in my mind, but I'm okay with how they turned out, and prioritize moving forward to working on the next pages.
Restarting a series should be considered a last option, only if there will be drastic changes to the entire comic overall, and being certain that those changes will be an improvement. That's why I restarted my comic.
If redoing early pages, you should consider that's time not being spent working on your current pages, and the art is expected to get more refined over time, in the later pages compared to the earlier ones. If you were to redo them, would you be able to without slowing down your comic's update schedule?
