You already know me. I'm easily discouraged, but as others have said, it's easy to give up in the first year, so try to stick it out. We know there are thousands, even millions of people online every day, but that doesn't mean they'll see our work. Just keep posting and see what happens. However, I do agree Tapas shouldn't be your end all be all.
If you have an opportunity to submit your work outside of Tapas, do it. Just because you post on Tapas doesn't mean you cannot submit to contests, agents or self-publish.
There are so many people online trying to get their voices heard, that not every writer here is going to succeed. I say keep posting to Tapas and submit your work to other places, too.
It's easy to get discouraged if you focus on one place. That happened to me on another writing website, so I already know it's not worth it.
