Anyone having a hard time hurting your character in the comic?

could be bcs the characters are not us but someone else in our head.and the way we picture him is not to get hurt but to get by just fine.

Comedy is all about exaggeration, either really overplayed or underplayed, depending on your style. Great tips above!

Personally, I don't really care either way if my character gets hurt, if the story calls for it, it will happen. Then again, I'm neither really dark and sadistic nor all sunshine and happiness. Also bruises are pretty fun to draw, it's just keeping them consistent that's tricky.

Sooooort of... but bruises and blood are just so fun to draw, and seeing readers react when bad stuff happens is incredibly addictive!

In all honesty I have got the sniffles when writing death scenes for my comic characters, it can be very hard. I always try to make my stories uplifting in the end, but I know that sometimes you've got to take people to heavy places to get there.

I know I do. I hate seeing my characters get hurt and show vulnerability, not because I pity them, because it's something I personally struggle with. There are many situations/scenes in the story that I debate over including because I know that if they happened to me, even if I needed help, I'd never tell a soul. I actively work against that kind of projecting by making sure I allow characters to make their own mistakes, face consequences and ask for help when they need it, as well as make room for them to talk about the past. Who knew writing was such cheap therapy!
