Anyone know where to buy good cheap markers/copic alternatives?

... i bought a few unbranded markers which were good, but came in very few color selections and were around 1.17usd which i guess are pretty cheap but to a broke artist like me thats still pretty expensive hahahuhuhu especially if i want various of assorted colors... some didnt have ink in them they didnt last long
i like alcohol based but if i can find any good ones i might end up with bic markers or crayola which are both pretty sucky i guess...

A while back someone suggested to me Spectrum Noir markers as a cheaper alternative to copics. They're not too bad, about the same as far as blendability, but they don't have the nice brush tip. Not going to say SN markers are extremely cheap, the cheapest you can find them on the net is 1.88usd each. But they come in over 100 different colours, so at least you have variety.

do they sell these in packs? (the cheap markers i used, one was dried up) i trink i saw copic somewhere but are sold for aroud 5usd
i used to use tia markers that were oddly fine i guess

Are you able to shop online? I don't have any suggestions for good cheap alternatives, as all the cheapo brand markers I've used have sucked. BUT, I have been able to find copics and prismacolors for cheap by stalking listings on amazon and ebay. I literally refuse to pay full price for art stuff hahaha.

On amazon, the prices randomly fluctuate everyday and sometimes drop super low out of the blue. Just add stuff to your "saved for later" list and watch it for a while. I've gotten great deals on expensive markers this way. On ebay, you can find auctions for markers/sets starting at 99 cents. Sometimes it's from a wholesaler, sometimes it's from some dumdum who got copics as a gift and decided they don't want them.

I've always liked promarkers (also because they seem to be the only "quality" marker you can easily find in shops here haha xD) though they don't have a brush tip (just a hard "bullet" tip), not sure how important that is? There's also a brushtip version out now called Flexmarkers though

Yup, that's how they're normally sold. You can either buy them in the 24 packs, or the 6 packs. The packs range from 8 to 30+usd. Copic prices have become pretty crazy, when I first bought them a single marker was about 2 to 3usd and the 72 packs were about 200usd, but their price inflated fast. But at least the upside to buying such expensive markers is that you can buy refills and new nibs, which are less expensive in the long run, rather than buying new markers.

I use Prismacolor 3620 to replace copic marker. I am a long time user of Prismacolor markers. I bought my first set on the advice of a well known artist friend of mine. I still have that set, but have had to replace markers in onsies as the others run out. It's a bit over 10 years old. One thing I appreciate about this set is that the fine tip end is not the .5mm end that came in my first set. While in theory the .5 tip is handy, it ends up always eventually not getting enough ink. With these they work for most applications and the price was right.

Try Bianyo if you are looking for an inexpensive set that includes a lot of good colors. The color options for this set is amazing and will surely not disappoint.

I know a lot of youtube artists swear by the Ohuhu brand,and they do have brush markers now. I usually just buy whatever brand is on sale at michael's.

Check out Becca Hillburn bc she has decent reviews on alcohol markers.

I also have had some pretty good luck with sales at MarkerSupply and Carpe Diem Markers. If you have a Tuesday Morning store in your area, check them out for Spectrum Noir or even Brea Reese markers. But don't mess with the firefly brand, it's straight up doodoo water. They are really cheap, but they don't blend for nothing. Though if you just need flat colors laid down, they will do in a pinch.

I used to love Darice's Studio 71 markers, they were cheap enough not to decimate the wallet while nice enough to blend like a copic. But Michael's closed down the line and repackaged them into their own Artist's Loft while running up the price

Ohuhu markers are super super cheap, like less than a dollar apiece, and aren't too bad quality wise (not very pigmented but fine for light washes) but you absolutely have to swatch them yourself, the colors don't match up to the chart included at all.

Snatching up prismas would be your best bet for quality, keep an eye out for sales on art supply sites like jetpens and blick besides amazon. Clearance sales are fun!
