I've seen a lot of them going around on the site lately but after reading the terms it was to my understanding that fics weren't allowed on Tapas? Has this changed recently or is just not being moderated? (Not trying to call anyone out, I'm simply surprised and would love to post fics too if it's now a thing! :D)
I've seen people posting fanfics, too, so I'm not sure. On Wattpad, people post fanfictions and make money off them. On Tapas, I don't believe that's allowed. So you may be able to post the story, but I don't think you can get revenue off it.
Oh! That would actually make a lot of sense, thanks for the reply!
I was a bit curious, too. I mean...I've had people posting them, and I do have a nuzlocke comic that people were saying they would like to follow on Tapas rather than on other sites since it's easier....
I don't think fanfics were ever not allowed. You don't have to look far to find fan comics, either. The only real rules on fanfiction/comics is that you can't make a profit off them (which means you can't activate Ad Revenue). So I would suggest, if you have an original comic AND a fan comic (or original novel and fanfiction), make an alt account for your fan work so that you can still be a part of Ad Revenue with your original stuff (as Ad Revenue is activated per account and not per work)
I dunno, I read the terms and service and it was saying all work you posted had to be owned by you and does not infringe any copyrights, which I supposed meant characters from TV series etc. nah? D:I just checked the terms again and it still seems that they are the same, but then there's all this fics floating around... I'm so confused. xD
It's just not a big enough issue to do anything about.
I suppose some of these writers could have asked permission first. That's what I'd do.
Eh, man okay despite the exposure it might give you, I don't think I want to risk my account/a ban then.
. . . if I get permission, does that make it an official licensed work? Do I get to make canon?
Nah you're just getting permission to use the characters, unless you're writing for a show or a comic I don't think it counts as canon?
Fanfics have always been allowed on Tapas, it's just like @UzukiCheverie said- You cannot profit off of them, so make sure that you are posting them on a separate account if you want to collect ad revenue or tipping from an original series.
Woah really? Ok damn that's cool to know, thanks!!
