Are you addicted to drawing?

How often do you draw? I have to draw almost everyday. If I go over a day without doing artwork I feel like something is wrong.

Anyone else like this or am I just a weirdo?

I should hope if there are like-minded individuals - they're here.

I wish. If I was, I'd get a lot more work done.

Frankly, I'm not even that big a fan of drawing - I just enjoy telling stories, and drawing happens to be the way I want to tell those stories. Sure, I've written novels, but I've gotten bored with that. I enjoy drawing Time Gate, but when it comes to personal projects, the inspiration is gone, out the window, and I'm immediately irritated by instant boredom.

I'm bored by a lot of things though. I'll discover something new, enjoy it for spurts at a time, and then lose all passion for it. I need to stay constantly engaged with new things otherwise I get burnt out. Time Gate has been such a long passion project for me though that hopefully I won't get burnt out with it anytime soon >.>

My comics are updated daily, so I pretty much have to draw every day, and even when I don't have updates, I'm an animation student which means even more drawing. Whee.

I don't think so, but I definitely feel lazy if I don't do at least something for my comic every day. I'll be heading to France for a month later this year sans tablet, so that'll be interesting. I'm hoping to get a lot of writing done. Either way, I'm sure I'll feel like I won't be able to draw a thing when I get back home.

i think it all depends on my mood. A couple years back, I could go a week or so without drawing and wouldn't think about it too much because I was having so much fun with or without it. Recently though, I feel the same as you- having the need to draw everyday. I think I've mostly been feeling that way because there's just so much going on in my life lately, so drawing really helps me escape. However, I'm pretty sure if my life starts to calm down again, I might end up drawing less regularly.

I draw almost every single day. Comics, fanart, little doodles, etc. I have a fanart blog, I have a personal art blog, and I have a comic -- these are the things that keep me drawing, and I'm honestly never sick of it. I can be tired and stressed out, sure, but if I miss a day or two (which happens inevitably), then it just feels weird.

A better term for me would be addicted to creating. Sometimes I'll only draw once a week and half the time it can only be for commissions. But every day I'm doing something. I'm either making scene notes for my table top players, drawing comics, writing comics, writing books, drawing random stuff that i feel like drawing... XD all the like.

I can't say I'm addicted to drawing considering i have dry spells but whenever I stop drawing I start writing :v so I'm never not creating... things.

Addicted to creating is a better way to say it for me.

Me, too. The more into something I am, the more I can enjoy drawing it and even spend hours doing it without stopping. If I'm not in the mood or not into it, I put it off until the last second and take a lot more breaks (AKA mindlessly surf the web instead of drawing).

...though strangely I seem to draw well when I'm ticked off. XD

I don't like to think I'm addicted, but as it's much more of a thing where "I must do it" rather than "enjoy doing it", it probably qualifies.

I draw almost every day. I say "almost" because sometimes, I force myself to take a break for a day, and convince myself that it's alright to not draw for a period of 24 hours.

... Even then, I often catch myself thinking "I'm taking a break from drawing today - this is a great time to draw some thumbnails for the next chapter!" So yeah. Even when I try not to, my hands itch to draw.

It's not just drawing, though; it's telling stories. I am one of those people who simply cannot doodle random things. Everything that turns up in my sketchbook pretty much immediately acquires a backstory and a function in some plot or world I'm building. The last time I bothered counting, I had 400+ characters spread out over 30+ different worlds and stories - and that was a year ago. The little buggers just keep turning up faster than I can figure out what to do with them. Focusing on a single story is a tough challenge indeed!

I draw everyday I don't have work (I work 3 days a week right now). When I do draw or paint or any sort of art, I do pretty much an 8 hour, 9 to 5 type work schedule. I try to treat it as a job. I don't really take days off because I enjoy working on my art so much. It's probably the only thing that I find really exciting. I just wish I was more skilled at it.

i do like drawing a lot. and i like writing a lot. but combining both into a comic isnt actually my first choice of storytelling; normally i prefer prose and poetry.

when i was younger i used to draw every day! i still doodle in my notebooks. nowadays, though, my priorities have pushed art somewhere in the back. having a weekly webcomic sort of helps me keep in the habit, while getting a story out there.

Art is both my job and outlet so I draw very very often unless ill or have other commitments. To give an example here is one of my schedules I had listed out some time ago:

When I was a student I drew every day, but recently I have no time for that, or just too tired But I still feel amm... kinda frustrated if I can't draw for days. I think drawing can be some kind of therapy. You can hide from the world and be alone in your own world. That's cool, so who wouldn't want to go back to draw again and again?

I draw almost every day too, even if it's just a doodle I feel more accomplished if I draw. But there are some days where i just cannot draw at all but---- I do try to draw every day

I tend to leave me one day off drawing. But most of time, I just draw. because it's my job, and because I like it.

My younger self was the gloomy girl in the class who drew a lot and being studious at the same time. I was almost always drawing all days, so much that when I had to do study drawings and wanted to depict my friends when we were after the dinner in a friends' house, they took it VERY badly that I prefered to draw them instead of talking sex or books I wasn't interested in (you know, 18 years old things...).

And I had problems on my hand twice, because my hand was telling me "you push me too hard STOP IT". :'D So I try to always take a day without drawing. ... And instead use the mouse to do other things such as thumbnails, family trees or whatever.
