Artist needed for a (furry) webtoon/comic

Thanks for stopping by! I’m thep33nb1rd, a writer currently collaborating with Milesiscozy on YouTube.

I’m looking for a creative partner/artist to bring a passion project to life: a Furry Slice of Life Webtoon. The overall story outline is completely ready, but I really want this to be a collaborative effort where we build the world together. Because of the style, I’m specifically looking for anthro/furry art style submissions.

What I’m looking for:
Since this is a hobby/passion project (unpaid), I don't expect full-time commitment, but I do highly value clear communication, reliability, and staying organized. I love working with Google Docs and keeping a steady, relaxed schedule so we both know what to expect and no one gets overwhelmed.

Just so you know: you're very unlikely to get a pro when the project is fully unpaid.
Not only that, but you also say you're a control freak which implies you're going to be on the more difficult sides to work with and ask for changes in the art (which is only free up to a certain point usually), again, for free.

Remember, most artists here are here because they have their own projects that they work on out of passion, we're not just mooching around between contracts. You have to give us a really compelling reason to put down our passion projects and do yours instead, be it a great story, a good cause, money opportunity, or because it sounds like a chill time. This pitch really doesn't sell anything, there's no sense of the actual story, it's not for charity, there's no money involved ever and you sound pretty uptight about it.

Sure, that's right, but I mainly lean on the moral definition of the word professional. Think of things like not just quitting projects out of nowhere and wasting each other's time because of it.

I phrased things a bit rustily here and there, mainly because I'm not a native speaker.

By "control freak," I am, again, referring to the planning and the moral side of being a control freak. Although that creates a strange contrast, of course, I (again) just mean clear communication and expectations from one another.

I'm also not aiming for a real professional; for me, it's a hobby project too, for sure. But I always want to go for it 100%, not cut it short halfway through.

I hope I've made my point clear; maybe I should edit my post afterwards if this turns out to be a recurring thing.

I think there's still an issue here: how long do you think this project will last? Comics take years of regular commitment. Amateurs, even the ones with the most rigourous attitudes, simply do not have the time nor energy to consistently give it to you over years, they have their own jobs, their own studies, their own projects and their own lives. It's almost inevitable that on their end it will be cut short at some point because life happens. Hell, I'm a professional and I treat my comic as one of my jobs, i still had to go on hiatus because I got other work opportunities.

Yes, I am well aware of that. Since I am also working on multiple projects. I have received your feedback in a polite manner, and I would like to leave it at that. I assume you are perceiving this as if I am asking you to work on it 24 hours a day.

We could also approach this positively for once, instead of only seeing obstacles. I am also posting this as a question on a forum so that people who are EXCITED about it and WANT to do it can reach out to me. After all, I already indicated that I expect quite a bit, so if they think they can handle it, they can contact me.

Well, this is a public forum and a place to find paid work for many, so it's only reasonable people critique others that are seeking unpaid collaboration/partnership or what have you.

On your heading, the words "not paid, but professional" implies you want someone who knows what they're doing and have made comics before. Such skill would require compensation, that is only fair for others to ask you to pay their peers who you want working for you. You see, @moontokkym isn't asking you to pay themself.

I'm not going to assume your intention in the replies, but a professional is still a professional no matter how you spin it.

I hope this idea helps you.

Find existing furry webcomics of creators with a style you
like and ask them if they want to work with your script. They
can maybe put use your story in their work.

Everything else is unrealistic and does not work. I´m not trying
to be negative towards your ambitious goals, but that´s my
(long) collab experience.

You express it perfectly clearly, and let me state first and foremost: you are, of course, absolutely right. Professional skills should be financially compensated at all times; there is no doubt about that whatso-ever, and we absolutely don’t need to argue about it. The solidarity you show here for your fellow artists is admirable.

What I do find somewhat regrettable, however, is the certain strictness with which people continue to hold on to a previous impression. Every time I open this thread I am repeatedly reminded that a previous choice of words which has long since been corrected and explained! Pionting out a misunderstanding is highly constructive, for which I thank you. Continuing to address an already resolved detail, unfortunately, overshadows the otherwise pleasant atmosphere. But anyway, the text has now been placed in the correct, informal context, which as far as I'm concerned completely clears the air.
