Artwork in novels

I've recently picked up drawing and I like how it's going. I think it's nice enough to show my readers how I imagine my characters. But this introduces the question - how?

I don't mean the mechanics, but rather the practical implementation. Using Firefox, you can paste an image into a chapter. It works. So, I'm wondering how to do this. A separate chapter with character art, plop it into a regular chapter, or another option I haven't thought of yet?

So I'd like to learn if anyone else on Tapas does this. If you showcase your artwork in your novel or have seen someone do that, let me know.

I draw images for this novel; there is one for every chapter at the beginning, right after the title. I draw them before reading the chapter, based on a description + some references from the author. It's very interesting for me to read the chapter afterwards and see how the image fits into it

Wait, what's this pasting an image into a chapter? Do I just need to hit the copy and paste keys to do it? Do I paste from my files or from an image hosting platform?

Anyway, I've been able to to it on other platforms, so I've only added thumbnails so far:

I definitely do this with my novel. I do insert images that highlight a particular scene; essentially I choose a sentence in the chapter, think about the context, draw it, then paste the picture there.

The latest chapter highlights that:

I call it insert art. You can also put the art in the beginning or end of the episode as a way of making it a cover art. Since I want my readers to be immersed in the story, I just prefer drawing out the scene itself and pasting it there.

To paste images into your episodes on Tapas, you need firefox. You have to make sure that your image is not super large in size (I try to only paste less files that are less than 1mb and also not bigger than 1500 width and height).

Some writers have gotten images into episodes by using their web browser's paste option, but it's never worked for me.

You could also try building in a separate cover for each chapter. I believe the new update is set to show the cover precluding each chapter. I can't quite remember if it's just for comics or even for novels.
