Omg. This is adorable. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I've neglected Tapas.

They contacted me on my Facebook author page, offering options of more or less exclusivity for more or less %. These sites pop up all over the place. I got contacted dozens of times on Wattpad. I really think that it's all one company, they just keep changing the name because once they get a bad ra…

Once you get in the #writingcommunity space, you'll find lots of people to follow. Not sure about tapas writers though. So this is cool. https://twitter.com/Kamiccola Follow train!

Mine is a pen name. I chose it the same way I choose my character names. So, things I considered: species (I'm human, I swear), gender, most-fitting genre, pronounceability and memorability. I also googled the name to see if any other author has it already. :sunglasses:

Oh, this is a precious line. Thanks for the laugh. “Does that make me a bad person, Felix?” He leaned on the wall and rested his forehead on the scratchy paint. The snail had no answers.

I put my pencil drawings on the cover or in an intro chapter just because I think they came out decent. Tapas is a very visual medium. I can't compete against comics drawn by these awesome digital artists, but I think the expectations of a novel author's drawing skills are lower. At least that's wh…

I have my own Wordpress site. It's not hard, there are themes that are very easy to use. Wordpress is very customizable so that's why I chose it, but it does take some time to get the customizations in (read days, weeks, and then I change my mind, grab a new theme and have to redo all the work). T…

I think the smaller number of novels make it possible for Tapas staff to notice you. If you read their tips for being featured, one of the things they list is what your book should be like at the very beginning - when you first post it - because that's when they check it out. If we’re looking at r…

Hmm, but you see, whatever system we writers think is the best is not necessarily the best system as far as the company is concerned. Their ultimate goal is what readers want, which might not be the same as what the writers want. And they don't want to share those findings with us because it is thei…

Done  Why is there a 20 characters min?

Is this supposed to work for pasting from a specific word processor? It doesn't work when coming from Google docs.

How about this one (not published yet)? Glass Gardens city center was bustling with life. People moved about in all directions, the hum of Speedporters mixed with their chatter. The excessive use of glass was growing on Ruby. Even with his poor vision, he was able to appreciate the calm beauty of…

I agree with the sentiment but there's another aspect to this I realized. I don't want my readers to just come, read, and leave. I want them to talk to me. That's what I get my satisfaction from. When you're new and you've got no reads, those few matter a lot, but once you gain a good number of th…

Hi there. There are more and more of us. Check out this thread.

Ugh. So frustrated. I wanted to create a gif on giphy but it came out too small. What did you use to create yours?

I guess it's possible. I mention it because I've seen arguments over HP fanfiction that went something like this: Ron never would've said "mom," he always said "mum." Well, look at page xxx (screenshot). Deer in headlights. What have they done to these books? :joy: In all fairness, when I first start…

Out of all the things that could be jarring, they had to choose that. I bet once they'd read some British works, they would stop noticing these completely. It's not your fault that they're early in their reading journey. Keep on doing your thing.

^ I agree with this. Keep in mind that HP books sold in the US were edited for US English. Which is a shame. I would've wanted to keep them purely British. I like seeing quirky little words or phrases I've never heard before. And it's not like a completely different language that would leave me c…

I'll check it out. Thanks for creating it.

Hey, fellow refugees. I'm not planning to drop out of Wattpad just yet, but I've already started moving here back in March, starting with my ONC novella because I wanted to start with something that was complete. I'm moving my main book here now too. I was going to wait until I was finished but lo…

I wonder about this too. I did that initially for all subs. At a certain point it got to be too much so I slowed down. I think something with a little personal touch is nicer than a plain Thank you. When I get them, I don't mind. There are so few anyway. Some comic creators post a little funny …

Sign me up. One more time with feeling because of the 20 character min.

Oh, cool. That must be a gif. I didn't know they were allowed in covers.

Well, they wouldn't change on their own. The author had to change it. The main book cover for the novel as well as the default thumbnail is specified in the Details part when you're setting up your series (the place where you specify the name). The thumbnails for each episode are specified in th…

Hehe. Trouble for Wattpad is good news for Tapas. I joined Tapas in March with just one book. All of my other works are still on Wattpad. I'll likely keep my fanfics there, but I'll eventually take my original books out. It was never a plan to keep them there forever anyway. What I've learned fro…

You can add drawings but only by using Firefox - just copy and paste. Size matters so the smaller the better (it won't save if it's too large). What do you mean "covers change?" Do you mean the actual cover or the episode thumbnail? Different thumbnails can be used on different episodes. My book f…

Meet... uh. I didn't name him yet. Hmmmm. Prickle. There you go. Prickle is an Incubus as imagined by superstitious humans who can't handle the idea that demons can be attractive. [image]

Tapas recommends 500 to 1500 so I try to stay within that range. Yes, that means I have to split chapters and they don't always have a neat spot to cut off on. My scenes usually run for at least 1500 words. For some of them, I had to write an intro/outro sentence so it would make sense. In other c…
