As a one-man army, how long does it take you as a Client, contractor or artist to make a chapter of your comic

I tend to work on vacations because uni is murder, but I already outlined my book (loosely) chapter by chapter. It's fun getting in the zone cx
I usually wait to edit until I'm well into the next chapter, but having an extra pair of eyes always helps. There's also the occasional writer's block, which can go from a week to half a year ^^;

SO, what would / can you do to make people glued (subscribe, or come back ) knowing your are on such pace..

Unlike spicy who is more professional than I am it seems. I prefer a free-flow style, so I don't outline my novel by the chapter. The only things i've outlined are the races and gods/goddesses. I take about the same time per chapter, sometimes longer. Taking notes of anything important during the typing. The story is basically in my head and anything small was something I was inspired to put in the chapter after thinking about it. I don't focus heavily on editing right now, mostly just making a good story.

Build. A. BUFFER.

Once you have thoroughly planned out your story, draw enough pages of your comic to compensate for any unexpected delays life might cause. Give readers the illusion of consistency by planning ahead.

If you know your life is hectic/unpredictable or is going to be, I'd say have one or more chapters completed and future ones already written out or being developed.

Sometimes you'll get restless and get an itch to hit that upload button, but in the long run, you'll be glad you prepared.

Now another pre-dead-end.. assuming you're the one commissioning the work out, making you pay for the job done out of your daily income. BUT you have another project (heavy project) at the side you need to commission also (Animation trailer) how will you keep both ends with you mini income

Lets see... I don't do any writing aside from jotting down the basic layout of the chapter, which only takes an hour or so. The last chapter I did took about 8 months to finish? So I'll go with around that time frame, maybe more or less depending on length and time I have to work on pages.

First to start I am not a pro just a hobbyist.

The script take me hours if I feel inspired.

Art: If I have time a week ( like holidays or vacations). If I don't have time maybe two months.

And I am talking about short chapters like about 4 pages and with no detail just the lineart and in B/W.

I am aware I am slow and I procastinate lol. But I do think having a comic is a really good way of learning time management and I really admire people who are able to keep their schedule.

Amateur doing this alone, approx one hour per box. I don't have chapters but each strip is around 6 boxes so about five to six hours per page.

I try to do my work on a more mock-professional level. Typically the writing takes a week or more, and then I give it considerable breathing room for editing. I always recommend giving a story some space for edits, since that's how you catch any errors or improve scenes.
The art takes me an eternity. Mostly because I work full time and I do everything in full colour. I can have a chapter done in a few months of effort, but am trying to speed up the process.

It takes me a month or so to write a 20 pages chapter, starting with the idea of the story and going on until I have the finished dialogues. Then it takes about 3/4 months to draw it completely. I work alone and do the writing and art, including colors, by myself. I could be faster, but I get bored easily so I work on multiple projects at once

I draw, and the first full chapter I did took like, a whole year to do. It was 60 pages in total. Which, to be honest, was longer than I wanted. I should have split the first bit into a prologue. To be fair, I wasn't consistent in drawing at the time, and I took about 2 and a half months combined of hiatus's throughout. My 2nd chapter is almost done, and it should end around 50 pages in 5 months? Though, I do long form, so an average page only has like 3 to 5 panels on them. So it's hard to properly consider them individual pages. I usually update 2 pages a week, so that would make my chapter end at closer to 25 pages, if you consider how many I upload at a time.

Depends on how good I want it to look, really. So far it can take me up to a week in total to get something done but I have a whole other bunch of crap I have to deal with so that can make it harder.

I usually work on about 18 pages a chapter, sometimes a little more. If I wanted, I could definitely get it done in a week. I couldn't promise quality assurance but I have the time to put my attention into my work. Usually though, it takes about 2 weeks, again, give or take a little.

I can basically get a page done a day but what I usually do is get about 3 pages outlined every 3 day and then get them shaded, toned, etc. the next day. It really all depends on how much I have to outlined because the actual shading and what not is easy.

However, with the holiday season in tow, I've been busy with a lot of things so I usually only get a page or two done in a week.

The shortest time I've completed a chapter in is three months, and generally they don't take me more than 8-10 months. They typically run at around 25 pages. My latest chapter was almost twice the length of the previous ones, and ended up taking me 21 months. It's been a gruelling experience, and I'm going to be more careful to keep my chapter lengths manageable in the future.

I rarely make one chapter. Rather I jointly create the sub-series. Let me put that in context.

I write a poetry comic. So the first part is writing the poem, which will later become the sub-series. Then I create the artwork which, ideally, embodies the poem's sentiment and unfolds as the poem progresses.

And then the third part is bringing the two together.

All in all I think it takes me close to 4 hours to create a sub-series.

Wow. That must be so difficult. Especially spending almost 2 years on one chapter. Kudos to you!
