ASL/Deaf Culture & Blind Culture Research

Hey guys! Looking for any recommendations on good resources for learning ASL and about deaf culture. Also looking for resources on learning about blind culture. I have found a few textbooks for ASL that look good but I'd love to hear from anyone. Can't find much for blind culture research.

For context, I have a blind character in my story Irish Dame. She is my FL's best friend. In book 3 (yes I have already planned to have multiple books) I have a deaf character who becomes a friend to my FL when things take a drastic turn. I don't want to make obvious mistakes or hand wave my way through key details like the ASL so any recommendations are much appreciated.

This guy's website has helped me. he and his wife are deaf, so I think he'll probably give more accurate information than you might find other places, and he answers questions for people on ASL on his page as well. I've heard (from him) that ASL textbooks are actually pretty inaccurate oftentimes. They change the language to make it look stranger to English speakers so that it will look more "foreign" for the sake of marketing.

Also, if your story is set in Ireland, they would probably have a different sign language, as they aren't universal.
