Ok, so after talking in another thread about wanting to help my son in some way I decided I'd like to try and do this. I noticed we seem to have various artist and writers around that are autistic so I'm mostly asking all of you and anyone who has family that is autistic.
I've been told many times the best thing we can do is help raise awareness/acceptance for autistics by helping them tell their story. So I'd like to, as a group, make a mini anthology for Autism awareness week which starts April 2nd.
The general plan is people will send me the files and I'll make a series. Each episode will be put up as a separate update with a link in the description for that update.
The rules:
If you are not autistic, but are speaking on behalf of someone who is, the first panel or paragraph should say this. I am not diagnosed as autistic, my 7 year old son is. He will tell us what we need to change and give finial approval- but it won't be his words because he hasn't found them yet. So we feel it's more respectful to point that out at the start and point out it's a bit more our observations and POV.
Try to keep it appropriate as we'd like all ages to be able to read this.
Please speak honestly from your experiences. Autism is a spectrum so it's different for all- it'd be really great to show that.
Please post below if you are planning on committing to this so I know who to message later.
If you have any tapas works, please let me know so we can link to those in the description.
Please have it submitted by March 20th so I can get everything organized.
I don't know f this will go anywhere. No matter what we are at least going to do ours. My son really wanted us to make one based off the letter we wrote his class.
I also apologize if, given I am not diagnosed as autistic, if my taking the lead on this upset anyone. I really just want to do something to help.
Thank you.
