more like 40k SD of being taught the way vs wandering aimlessly for a long time until you stumble on the way by accident(usually a book or a youtube course) get better a bit and then to wander aimlessly again cause you lost the way
the worst thing about being self taught is that you are always questioning if what your doing is the right thing to do, and if doing this will actually help me get better and most books are usually useless once you get to a certain point, and then you get into the technical and expert level books and you don't understand the advance techniques and you have nobody to ask, hey what dose this mean? or is this right?
like I said I don't care if it's a silver spoon or a wooden one, if you are good you are good simple as that, if you don't got the money to go to school but you get there eventually I don't care, if you do have the money and get there I don't care, I just care that you are there
the youtuber is one of the teacher and a co-founder so I think his abilities at the end speaks for themselves and the before and after in the website (even if it's only the best/middle ones of the class) also speak for themselves, like I said If I had even a tenth of the abilities I wouldn't complain ever
yep I hate this mentality since it's stupid, elites and really unhelpful for all students of the arts -_-
this^ this is why I get so frustrated with most artist who say self taught is better than a teacher, art is just like any other subject a good professor will always be better than another student in the same class when you have a problem, enfessis on GOOD since if the teacher is bad it can really hurt the students and make them think that their better off learning alone than with help.
that's cause they never understood it themselves, and example of this is when you are in a math class with a student teacher, they try to explain the concept of x+x=2x, and they over complicate it to the point where you are just lost and don't get anything, a teacher is just a more experienced person but if they don't understand fully the importance or the details of a subjects they can't explain it, same goes with art teachers, if they don't know anything other than surreal art and colour theory how can they explain something like dynamic composition/perspective if they never heard of it until yesterday XD
I'm just glad you are getting a different perspective and not clamming up like a lot of people I sometimes talk to. and no prob hope you enjoy and learn from his videos =D
