I would be hard pressed to name a best weekly update schedule, Pernellmatthew. Although, I would think that Mondays would be a pretty good time to update, since you don't have to compete with the weekend, and all the events that take place at that time.
Other factors could be impacting the view count. For one thing, I find that view counts tend to come in cycles. That is, periods of low views followed by periods of a spike in views. It could be that you simply need to be more patient. This applies particularly if you have less than 20 updates.
Another thing to watch out for is how you treat the episode system. If you keep editing the same episode with new pages, you'll find that this hurts your "freshness" rating, and will wind up getting you less exposure on the site overall. You might try updating each page as a new episode.
