Best way to reduce size of animated GIFs?

Anyways, as you can see, my episodes always have an animation, but near the end before I went on break, the quality began to dip due to the 2MB size limit and me generally putting in more detail.

Now that I'm working on it again, I'm facing this issue again, and it's pretty frustrating. Photoshop just isn't cutting it anymore.

I'm talking reducing sizes from 10 MB and up to the 2 MB limit or under. I don't remember it being so hard to reduce, but something has changed, though I'm not totally convinced it's the art itself,

Any ideas, or tips?

Divide your page into multiple images. With the RAGE episode, for example, the top 2/3 will be a single image, and the bottom 1/3, containing the animation, will be the second image.

This will optimize the filesize for the first image, at least. The difficulty is matching the color palette across the two images. I'm sure there's a way to do it, but I don't know it offhand.

I actually did that with the episode above that, and that did knock it down some, though with the art suffering.

This may be hard with my upcoming stuff since some are more connected.

Reducing filesize will also reduce your preferred quality.

Some ways to reduce filesize:
- Reduce document dimension.
- Reduce frame count.
- Reduce panels/areas that are animated.
- Grayscale mode (128 colors).

Is the 2MB limit for the whole submission (regardless of how many files) or only per image uploaded?

I believe It's per image.

ezgif.com has a nice resizer and optimizer https://ezgif.com/optimize but sometimes when I run files through that site I get a "cannot recognize file type" error here

I'm not sure how well this applies to you since I don't know photoshop, but try removing your duplicate frames and decreasing the frame rate to compensate. That seems to work for me.
